Yes, I want it, and I know lots of people out there want it too. I'm writing here to ask support of GOGers who show appreciation for this franchise, to join the following group:

And I've been thinking of this before, if a new xbox and new playstation will be revealed at E3 2012, probably afterwards that Valve will jump in the bandwagon and announce a new Half-Life immediately, maybe as a launch title for both consoles. Well, now the press started to imply that: http://pc.ign.com/articles/121/1216238p1.html

Let's forget about Episode 4, Return To Ravenholm, SOB, etc.

Fans just want communication about Half-Life's current status, be it HL2EP3 or HL3, so please join that group. Feel free to discuss the series, IMHO one of the best stories in an FPS, although I find it "too accessible" and so the difficulty could be improved. :)
There won't be a PS4 announcement at E3, not sure about Xbox 720, but if Sony is holding their cards to their chest for a while more, I expect Valve will as well.

I honestly don't care about the game HL3 all that much. What I care about is the Gman, and how he fits into the story. Specifically, who are his employers. If HL3 comes out and doesn't address that, it'll be worse than if the game never came out at all.
They can't release this game. With both Daikatana and DNF released, what else are we going to mock as vaporware?
Joining a group that wants to tell Valve HL3 is in great demand is like... joining a group to tell the world that nuclear weapons are dangerous.

My point is, this is common knowledge. You're not turning any heads in disbelief and get them to say: "People want Half-Life 3? When did this happen?"

The group is "a call for communication" about future HL titles, not a "petition for HL3", OK? ;)

I'm actually quite shocked that anybody thinks they're still going to release it. Then again both DNF and Daikatana were released and I think Valve has a ways to go before claiming the #2 spot on longest release cycles.
Did anyone forget what happened the last time with the HL2 source code leak? From what I hear Gabe Newell and some of the people at Valve are still bitter over that. I don't blame them one bit for being secretive and uncommunicative.

I fail to see the difference between the two. :)
I have stopped caring about anything HL3 or HL2EP3 related.
It has become too pathetic.
Valve are only going to release details as and when it suits them. Groups like this would only convince them that it was worth making. But I think that much has already been established. Hopefully they're not still undecided on making it, so the group is pretty pointless.

follow your dreams. forget about the haters.
I guarantee you they haven't even gone past the concept/brainstorming stage of HL3 or HL2 Ep. 3. Even if they started working on it today it wouldn't be released until 2014. The reality is Valve makes so much money off of Steam they have absolutely zero motivation to do much of anything in the realm of new projects. L4D2 and Portal 2 were basically glorified expansions. DOTA 2 is -- for all practical purposes -- someone else's IP. That and they're working on another Counterstrike?
Valve would never tell anyone in advance about the future of Half-Life before a decent demo is ready.

Let's summarize what we know:
- Valve promised Half-Life 2 trilogy and only 2 episodes were completed so far
- Source engine is still polishing / actively supported
- They should have enough money to invest in their projects (Steam)
- So far Left 4 Dead 2 and Portal 2 were released and only Half-Life lacking its sequel
- In one of the interviews Gabe Newell mentioned that the new Half-Life needs to be more "scary": http://www.computerandvideogames.com/240672/gabe-newell-next-half-life-needs-to-scare/
- A photo with a "Half-Life 3" t-short was revealed, after which Gabe immediately reacts stating that this is pure fabrication.
- Lastly 2012 just started...

Therefore it is only a matter of time for the next game.
I am afraid that Valve understands the big expectations, probably some early works were rewritten from the scratch several times.
Maybe they are not announcing anything because there is nothing to announce yet and the project is still on pre-production stage for almost 8 years. I would never told millions of fans that concept for their beloved game is still under consideration.
On the other hand if the game is really developing (considering that after Portal 2 they may concentrate on it), it would be only logical to announce it on E3 2012 and sell it during Christmas holidays.

My point is: Valve would not tell us anything before the right moment. For some companies it takes 15 years :)

My best expectations are:
There are two teams working on Half-Life: Episode 3 (Source engine) and Half-Life 3 (new engine) at the same time. Valve is to announce both projects at once; sells the last Episode in trilogy this Christmas and creates enough hype for Half-Life 3 for another 3 years.

Just in case, I don't meant to offend anyone.

Hey we'll always have Black Mesa Source!
