Well, of course it's new year, it's fricking Nowruz!

At 0:21 o'clock equinox starts, meaning the new year after Iranian calendar.

Actually, it's the official beginning of a new spring, so let's be happy and wait for the Easter bunny to show up :D

Nope, German, but I have an obsessive interest with Persian culture and mythology.
Caused by playing Prince of Persia: Warrior Within repeatly.

Check out Persian Fire by Tom Holland, a very exciting and well told history book.
Ah if only I had a big fire right now to do my pathetic impression of a jump... into.
Yeah, okay maybe that's one celebration I'll give a miss if you don't mind.

well, i had a much smaller fire in mind than the one in the picture when my friend told me about it (can't imagine the girlfriends parents being very athletic), so you'd probably be able to work something out :p
But when you think about it, could you find a better activity for showing off than standing around in a circle and jumping through a huge fire? It's probably some primal instinct because i've seen drunk dudes doing it spontaneously at beach parties

How about I put a lighter on the floor and jump over that?
