The End Might be Near*. Better Play Some Games!

We don't really know if the Mayans were right
Will the 21st be the Earth's final night?
If it really is, we know we'd want to be
Spending our last hours enjoyably

The end of the world, and the bundles we bring
Are a wondrous package--an incredible thing
All the daily deals for the whole month today shine
We've even brought ones from the future in asynchronous time

Of all of the days of the year 2012
This is the one for gamers just like yourselves
To pick up some games before the world ends
And spend your last day having fun times with friends

Some say the world ends in fire--or ice
We think that neither ending sounds nice
If the world has to end--neither frozen nor flaming
The world should end in a way that says: gaming!

There's and [url=https://secure.gog.com/gamecard/the_witcher_2]Witcher, and and [url=https://secure.gog.com/gamecard/duke_nukem_3d_atomic_edition]Duke
And Deus Ex, , or [url=https://secure.gog.com/gamecard/thief_gold]Thief
So before the world leaders launch thousands of nukes
Spend a few moments and suspend disbelief

Theme Hospital, , [url=https://secure.gog.com/gamecard/caesar_3]Caesar 3 and Trine
It sure was nice living, but we're just out of time
Ultima Games, from 1 to game 9
The aliens are invading--we must hold the line!

, [url=https://secure.gog.com/gamecard/wing_commander_1_2]Wing Commander, and indie FTL
Crusaders and Heroes of Magic and Might
The end is approaching boys; see you in hell
Bruce Willis can't save us from this meteorite

Quests for Kings and for Space and for Heroes and Glory
and [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/telltale_adventures]Telltale
The abyss is erupting--this will surely be gory
Frogs are raining down in amphibious hail

The world may be ending, our last day is nigh
So take this last chance to play games 'till you die!

*GOG.com in no way endorses The End of The World. We like it here. If you have a Death Star, a Death Ray, or a fleet of Cyber T-rexes with Lasers, please don't destroy the Earth right now. At least wait until we release that game that everyone's waiting for. And that one, too. No, that one probably will never happen.
Just a bit over half an hour left...

Grab that Might and Magic bundle while you can people...

DProject: On the fence about Heroes Chronicles. What to do, what to do...
I mean, it's only five bucks but I just got the new HiB, plus there's six GOGs I still need to play and finish too. And Mass Effect 3 that's still in the wrap and has been for a month. And Deadlight. So I'm not running out of things to play in the near future.

Good thing there's still some time left to think whether I should buy it and add to the backlog.
Chronicles has a ton of gameplay, but you'll have to crank up the difficultly level much higher than normal because it was designed as an intro for new players to try and hook them on HOMM3. Everything about the game is easier, particularly the maps.

It's not as fun as HOMM3 and the expansions, but still a decent pick up if you just can't get enough campaigns...

Well I went and bought it, because I looooove HoMM3. Hadn't played Chronicles before. I've finished the first two episodes of the 1st chapter and yes it was pretty damn easy, though it's just the beginning so figures. I don't mind though, the HoMM 3 campaigns, especially in the expansions, were reaaaally hard at certain points, so a bit softer welcome is appreciated here. I enjoy the gameplay even when it's not particularly hard - if this is the case throughout all chapters, then hey, at least I can cleave that backlog of mine a little faster :)
This sale has brought down their back end servers for me. I can not download any games anymore. wpc.11df.edgecastcdn.net does not resolve. DNS server times out trying to find it.

Isn't that one of the bundles "from the future"? Meaning it will come back up in the following days anyway.

Besides, I would have jumped right on it if it was a HoMM bundle, but I have no interest in the rest of the bundle games.

THE COUNTDOWN IS STUCK AT ONE SECOND
Also a 404 error came up before the counter had reached zero seconds.

If you're interested in the actual story, be careful. Experienced players will finish maps long before the game finishes feeding you story at the beginning of each day. If you want the full story, sometimes you'll have to stall several days or even weeks to be able to read it all. I usually recommend saving the game near the point where you're prepared to beat the map and then go through the remaining story, then reload the game where you saved it and beat the map...
Of course 5 minutes after I posted that I could not download anymore, the servers started working again. Me thinks someone at GOG found the power cord they tripped on and plugged it back in.

Not a problem for me, because I really don't care about the story that much. I love the gameplay which is why I play these games. When it comes to fantasy, this often happens with me: there's so many different factions and people with really weird names like Thgaaarhgon'Nakezo that I forget everyone's name right after they've finished their sentence. That's why I don't often even bother with the story at all in these kind of games unless it's absolutely crucial (say, if it's an RPG with quest givers and such).

EmilJ1_74: Yay, based on what I read in this thread I picked up Alphan Centauri and I can confirm it does indeed contain the Alien Crossfire expansion, including the AC manual. Very nice :)
Although it didn't say so yesterday, today it says there are updates to 3 of my games, including Alpha Centauri and Wing Commander 1 & 2. I guess they forgot to put the alert in for the added expansions.
The end has come.
