It's getting some kind of weird, underground hype cred. Every time I see anything about it I just get scenes from Red Dawn playing through my head.

Roman5: and of course the lead platform and focus will be on the 360. I have already said this in another thread so I'll let you put 2 and 2 together
Finally, just what we've been missing on 360, a shooter...

bansama: I wonder how the PC version will fair in Japan. Will it get a release on Steam (it has preorders, but that's not an indication of anything these days)? And if it does, will it be uncensored or have all references to North Korea removed (like the console version)?

Either way, what with Shogun 2, Dragon Age 2, Crysis 2 and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood all lined up for this month (and the next few probably given how little time I have to play) I won't be buying this until it's at least 50% off.
I believe Kotaku had a news article about that. They changed Korea to "a mysterious enemy from the North" or somesuch.

Of course this turned the enemy into Canada. :p
On reflection I'm starting a pool on whether Homefront turns out worse (and apparently a bigger beggar for actual players) than Bulletstorm.

No mysterious about it. It's simply "Country in the North". It's simply because some here is afraid that the North Korean communities will bitch and whine about it. Despite the fact such a community shouldn't even be here...

... I think they're afraid Kim will get annoyed and nuke Japan.
http://www.vg247.com/2011/03/11/pucino-games-like-homefront-need-to-sell-around-2-million-units/

"THQ chief financial officer Paul Pucino has said a game like Homefront needs to hit the two million milestone to recoup costs"

This is absolutely ridiculous, THQ is starting to sound more and more like Capcom with it's bullshit

I find it odd these games supposedly cost so much to make. I mean if a few dudes in a basement can make Zeno Clash why does it take 3 years and a hundred million to make Homefront? I don't get it.

Another world was made by one guy in 2 years, it took dedication, commitment and a LOT of very hard work, something many developers lack

All of this is most likely corporate greed and PR talk

Right now we are in a time when stupid publishers spend so much money on Worthless things and The Budget of the Game advertising and promotion exceeds the ACTUAL GAME budget (SEE: Halo 3)

Millions of Dollars are being wasted into nothing without any real reason and THEN these dumbasses wonder why they aren't making so much money

I'm not exactly an expert in business however It's quite easy to see what's going on right now

Right now if you want to sell your game what's more important is Marketing/Hype and being able to make your game look Flashy and good in the Trailers instead of actually making a good product

We have Games like COD:Black ops that are not really good and are shipped with tons of issues and bugs and people buy them regardless because of hype and brand name

how much money do you think was wasted by EA into the "Your mother hates Dead space 2" stunt and those Real life "protests" with dante's inferno and what do you think they have actually achieved?

right now we have to Deal with Bullshit like the DmC "reboot" because The latest DMC4 sold "ONLY" 3 milltion but apparently that's not enough for Capcom, oh no, capcom wants even more, they admittedly said that they want "God of war" sales number of more than 5 million - "we want those 5 million"

it will never end with these publishers

just throwing out some of my thoughts out there
Doesn't sound even remotely as good as HomeWORLD........on GoG.

I had a friend whom swore that it had the best AI in an RTS ever.

He didn't like the sequel though.

Really? I liked both of the games

and yes the AI is awesome in the games, as far as I recall: I think it was one of the first Space RTS that I have played (I was 10 when it came out), because of it I got into other space games like freelancer and freespace
Just hit the cancel button... better luck next time THQ.
