Any chance they would ever end up on gog, i would love to play those games again.
im surprised no-one said anything already.

In short. Maybe.

In order for GOG to sell a game on thier site they need to sign an agreement with the holders of the IP with the agreement of the price ect.

I dont know who has the rights to the homeworld games but I do know that in the case of some games IP's the rights are spread between multiple studio's and individuals, some are probably hard to even find out who owns them.

Only time will tell, and perhaps a staffer will drop some clue about it sometime but im not holding my breath.
Last I heard, there were some pretty compelling rumours floating around that Relic themselves had bought the Homeworld IP, which would mean that the rights to release the game would have to be cleared with both them and Activision for those games to appear.

I have no idea if that's true, or if there are any other parties involved, but there was a lot of talk a couple of years back that Homeworld 3 might make an appearance someday soon, presumably after Relic are done messing around with the Warhammer 40k license.

***Edit***

Had a quick look, and it seems that THQ might actually be the owners of the Homeworld IP, having acquired it at the same time as Relic.

Actually Relic got back the right's something like 3-4yr ago... also there is a chance that they are working on new hw game. A while back on the official Relic tweeter have been posted a mysterious art with the guidestone... but they removed it the next day.
Thanks for the replies, good to have more info, one Can always dream i guess to see those two Gems in my gog list :)

Try Haegemonia, here. It's pretty similar, and the graphics are awesomsauce :D

Acquiring the IP doesn't necessarily mean they acquired the rights to the old games too. So you might be right that they're in limbo.
I would love to see Homeworld on GOG too.

They would need to include the Soundtrack as an extra though.

These games are readily available on Amazon and priced "reasonably". No reason to wait on GOG. Different users have had varying success with Win7, so YMMV.

But is this game any good? It does look pretty, but the reviews have been a bit unconvincing to me either way.
@strixo - Ya i was thinking of getting them on amazon, just havent got around to it.

@SpirlaStairs - I loved the soundtrack that would be a great extra.

Be aware HW2 will install an older version of Securom (4.x or 5.x?) on your system, if that matters to you at all. It sort of bugs me. Don't know about HW1.

I have them running on an older "game" laptop. They'd be instabuys here on GOG.

How the hell have I never seen this game all the times I've been through the catalogue?

TBH, it's pretty good right up until the "Turret" missions. 1st one is do-able. 2nd one is INSANELY hard, and kinda breaks the game...

PS - Sorry for the lateness, I didn't seem to get the notification of a reply..... O_o

Because it's not exactly sold as a Homeworld-esque game....I didn't buy it for that, really - but as a space-sim, like Freespace. Pleasantly surprised! At least, until said "Turret" missions, anyway.
Still, all-in-all, I do recommend it.

Me too. I still have the boxed copies of all 3 parts but I'd like to have a 100% working digital copy too.

I will probably pick it up then when it goes on sale. I've been playing EVE a bit lately. Piloting a starship and being in space as it were, has nicely filled a void in the gamer part of my brain.

I played another game recently that threw me into an obligatory turret mission.... Dead Space I think it was? I didn't mind, but it was like... meh
