Is there an announcement? Is there an "upcoming" list somewhere that I've missed? Is there a particular day that's known as "release day" where stuff is uploaded to the site?

Or do games just randomly appear in store?

New games are released on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week (except during the summer and winter sales). Upcoming releases are usually not announced by GOG. Occasionally we learn about upcoming releases from other sources, but typically we don't know what's coming until the games are released.

they are announced with a shiney screen on the frontpage usually around 12.00 gmt (think thats the right time)

GoG does not make announcements prior to release though sometimes people on the forums find out somehow (my guess is the promise of sexual favors to Firek)

There is typically a hint given about one of the next week's releases on the This Week On GOG youtube videos though...
