So I managed to escape the troll cave from KQ4.
The "funny" fact is...I was blocked in that damned cave with the troll for TWO HOURS!
I saved just right when I encoutered the troll, and he always catched me.No way to escape from him, even going back to other screens didn't help me.
It was my only save, and I kept trying for two hours then...the troll frozen itself. It was here but it didn't move.
So I managed to escape that damned thing by glitching him XD
I did that in King's Quest 6 many moons ago.

Saved the game right as I walked through a doorway where stone archers came to life and killed me.

But no glitch to save me. Had to go back to the previous save. :(
Good that you had multiple saves. : S

Considerably more recent, I found myself stuck in Knights of the Old Republic, I was fighting against this one darth guy on Tatooine, and my party was, well, obliterated. Unfortunately I somehow managed to overwrite my only recent save (the others were hours old) in a situation where I only had HK-47 alive with his gun, and most of the enemies (if not all) were alive, including the lightsaber-toting bastard mentioned earlier.

Well, I tried probably about twenty to thirty times, and somehow managed to kill them all with just him. It was glorious, I always had him in my party after that as thanks.
Recently I beat Growlanser 4.

The last form of the final boss has a special lose condition where it's a game over if the main character gets ko'd (because of plot reasons, he's projecting a magic shield that's keeping the rest of the party from dying).

Well, the mc's hp hit zero but for some reason I didn't get a game over. I simply cast the heal spell I was chanting on the MC to bring his HP back up a bit, and the battle continued until I won.

Heh, I remember that. Inopportune saves were a pain.

I just played Space Quest IV the other day and got zapped by the sentry robot in the beginning. I forgot how funny that game is. Not the same as running from the cave troll, but still pleasant memories.

KQ4 was a fun game. I really enjoyed it.

This is my first "real" King's Quest, because I played the first three chapters on their free remake (and KQ7 but this isn't a real KQ).
It's hard, but not that hard. The testual parser is easy to use but there's a LOT of pixel hunting.
Isn't it incredible how even in this day and age games still have no mechanism in place for avoiding accidental overwriting of an only save? I mean, the quicksave and quickload button are fairly close to each other, and can be confused in a frustrating situation. Why don't more games have multiple quicksave slots, say five of them, and only overwrite them one by one?

I haven't played the remakes yet. I've beaten KQ1-5, I don't remember 6, but I might have. I might give them a play again sometime soon. I remember them being pretty enjoyable though I can't speak for KQ7.

I don't remember a lot of pixel hunting in KQ4, but it has been awhile...

I forgot about the worm. Doesn't the ball "sparkle" or something... I forget, but yeah, I know what you mean.

KQ3 was the first one I played. I had it for the Color Computer 3 and I don't think I beat until years later when I got the Robin Williams Anthology.
