...of an old freeware game. I know because that's a freeware you may not know about it but i'll ask anyway.
I had that freeware game with on a CD with some game magazine 7 or 8 years ago. It was a strategy game, in 2D topdown view. It was running on windows but on the desktop (not using fullsreen).
The different levels where themed : medieval, fast food wars, magical land, robots,...
The gameplay was the same but units where different based on the level's theme.
Music was crap (midi format) but one was the Misato Theme from Evangelion.
And I can't remember the name of this freeware. Anyone wo was into freeware games at the time can answer me ?

Well i'll try... The game is in 2D like Zelda on the NES. It has tiles clearly visible for the ground. The game was very wolorfull. In the level where it's themed like a fast food war I remember the unit behing at first small sized french fries, then medium and finaly hamburger when they level up.
On each level you were against 3 ennemies. You are the red team, and there was blue, yellow and green. Any clue ?
EDIT : Oh and it was realtime !

Can you remember the name of the magazine? You might be able to look through back issues on their website to gain some clue as to what it was...

I have heard of something similar but no name comes to mind. I'll look onto it.

Did this game happen to be a type of RTS? Sounds familiar, but the mechanics I vaguely remember (assuming it is the correct game). Did you have little "towns" where your units kind of came out of and went towards the enemy and battled, and if you won, you basically took over their territory? gameplay went pretty fast? I cannot remember the name of the one I'm thinking of, but I'll try to dig it up. If I find the one I'm thinking of, I'll post a name and link.
EDIT:: I found the one I was thinking of....I think.. Although I'm not sure if this is the one you're thinking of, I see no french fries. But here is a link to it. Lord Monarch is the name of it.
