Obsidian Entertainment Layoffs, Project North Carolina Cancelled

Damn, that's depressing. Just when Wasteland 2 got my hopes up for RPG future...
Layoffs are par for course in the games industry. But when a project gets cancelled you know something's going very wrong.
Getting laid off your first week? Ouch.

Obsidian get a lot of projects canceled. They either don't meet status goals or they are pissing off publishers some other way.

And I say this as a huge fan.

Yeah, the problem with Obsidian is that it's often the wrong people getting laid off (need to be ones higher up the food chain). There's talent there. Especially in terms of writers. But you could lose a lot of other people without losing anyone irreplaceable.
Man, that is sad to hear. Be thankful if you have a job.

Yeah, Obsidian are one of the few developers who routinely release bug ridden, poorly designed games that are still interesting to play. Largely due to the writing and the gameplay options. Always has a sense of depth.

If the writers went elsewhere then in all honesty I don't think they'd have anything much left to offer. But yeah, as it stands their games are certainly worth paying attention to.
Yeah I just saw this on Fargo's Twitter. What a damn shame.
time for a new kickstarter :)
So people got fired because of the metacritic..

How...nice...
