Happy to be played with, then! :P I am quick to defend myself sometimes.

tarangwydion: Yes, definitely. GOG.com will legally release DRM-Free Pizza in the near future.
I don't think so ....
Do you really think that in the post apocalytic world that's comming right at us, people would want to eat pizza WITHOUT Diabetic Rat Meat ?? oh no kind sir, it would make a pizza worth more than 10 caps and I don't think people would go for it.
You guys do realize this thread is from May... Right?
I believe that the only thing that I may contribute to this thread is:

Wow.

I know right? Why was this thread brought back up (especially when the question was previously answered)?

Of course they will. I was referring to Donkey Raw Meat, I mean why wasting useful resources, not to mention good companion animals like donkeys when rats are abundant?

ellynandroid: It might be cliche, but: there's no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers.

Vestin: "Really? So if I catch rails with my hands will I go like a train?"

Or do you mean "There are no stupid questions, there are only stupid people" ;) ?
LOL. As a former teacher, I've heard the "there are no stupid questions only stupid answers" a million times and, no, it's not true.

There are plenty of stupid questions. And plenty of people who don't have much common sense either. It can be couched in as much PC language as people want, but it still doesn't make it true :)

LOL. No, I didn't. I just responded as it was on the top of the Community topics.

For all we know, the guy broke up with her by now :)

Indeed. I still tell students that, but some of the questions I've heard make me die a little inside that the question is being asked.

But, I teach ESL, so I hope when it happens that it's just a language or culture difference.
nvm, necro

Which is why I, as a supply teacher, so often hear when I ask students if their tutors did not go over this with them "Well, they did, but I did not understand it then, and if it is one thing I learned in those classes is that I do not ask any questions". Student do pick up on these things, even if you try to coat it in PC language.

If you as a teacher get "stupid" questions, it means you failed at some point communicating what the student needed to know and you need to use a different approach. "Stupid" questions means they did not get it and needs help. Therefore there are no "Stupid" questions, especially as a teacher.

"Don't they speak French in England?" asked of me by an American soon after I moved to the US. Yes...an incredibly stupid question from a 19-year-old university student whose major was GEOGRAPHY. You would have to have lived in a cave to think the national language of England is French -- a fact that even my most oblivious of 10 year old Thai students knew.

And sure, if my students don't understand something I've explained then, you are absolutely correct, I haven't explained it easily enough for them to understand -- although I rarely had that problem -- and I explained it again.

But...there ARE stupid questions and anyone that doesn't think there are is either PC beyond belief or has just never met some of the types of people I've met :)

Sure, I make HUGE allowances for someone asking questions in a foreign language or from a drastically different culture as the ones I grew up i as, heaven knows, most of them often speak a second or third language better than I do :)

But, I have had several of the most clueless students imaginable -- students whose parents would come to me exasperated as they couldn't believe their child was this stupid (most of the time they weren't -- just incredibly lazy). And yes, they asked such stupid questions that their friends would even throw things across the classroom at them just to get them to stop talking. :)

Bloodygoodgames: snip
Thats your view. My view is that such an attitude is one of the ways to kill a learning process. For some the only way to learn is to vocalise all ideas and communicating is part of how information gets internalised into understanding (as opposed to just memorising). In this process you will have "stupid" questions as information gets shifted around (some calls it meaning schemes...). To diminish this process in a learner will only make sure they do not approach you again next time they get stuck, and actually working against their own learning process.

Secondly - I much more admire people who dare ask "stupid" questions to learn something new or gain new understanding, then those who pretend not to have any to look "cool" and bumbles along blindly. The attitude that there are questions which can be asked and some who can't is in my opinion just leading to the latter and it is not healthy at all. It is better that the student asked this question and got confirmation, then being in doubt whether people in England do speak French, I prefer the first over the later any time. For the OP in this case, better safe then sorry is a good policy and it do not deserve ridicule. Just go and see how many of the Abandonware sites out there who claims to be legit. I understand his question.

Thirdly - "Stupid" questions is only stupid in relation to the audience. Everybody at some point will ask "stupid" questions. I ask "stupid" questions all the time when it is something new or something I do not understand. If the listener is an expert they can appear very stupid in deed. However, I prefer it if the questions get answered in proper fashion, and not being condescending or diminishing.

Fourthly - as a teacher "stupid" questions should be taken seriously and used as an indication on how the classes are going. If you get many of them, then there are something wrong and it needs readdressing. However, if the students no longer dare ask them, then this tool is gone out of the window.

The Humble THQ Bundle thread is dead.... what else is there to do? hmm, maybe it is time to necro it?
A lot of abandonware sites (illegally) host old games. She runs across a site selling these exact same games, and wonders if it's legit. It's a little silly, but let's not blow it out of proportion.
