Hi, back when I was a child I used to play this very difficult western RPG, isometric view (Baldur's Gate style), I can't remember if the fight was turn based or real time.
You had a party of 4/6 - can't remember, but they were very customizable - characters, one of them was a bard who played variuous songs and, starting from a dungeon (a sort of labyrinth), you had to get out in the first place. Once outside, you could travel the map in a Fallout-like fashion, but it was crowded with enemy's armies - if you stumbled in one of them, you had to fight the whole army, or run like a headless chicken trying to escape!
Can't tell you much more, since I was able to get out of the labyrinth maybe a couple of time, and I always died against those armies.
Plus, a funny extra: at least in my computer, the UI "corrupted" gradually as time went on, making it impossible to read any button. The weird thing is that saving and loading these annoying changes were also stored. Interesting way to increase the game difficult.

It was a MS-DOS game, I think it came on CD-ROM but it might even be 7-8 floppy disk.
I bought it on 1996, it was a black box featuring "classic" videogames - the same day in very similar boxes I bought Dune 2 and Prince of Persia, so I think it may have been published between the end of the 80's and the beginning of the 90's
I remember it had a very long title - maybe title+subtitle - and a pretty big manual. It was in english.

I hope this helps, I really am curious to see this game today!

Never played that game, but I know that Celtic Tales: Balor of the Evil Eye has a Bard and isometric gameplay. It's also a late dos game.

You can find some other isometric rpg-games for dos on mobygames. Maybe you want to play around with the filters.
