Taunttheostrich: I remember seeing Arx Fatalis for the Xbox a long time ago! it sort of reminds me of Dark Messiah. I think it'd be worth checking out too :) lucky this sale came along with all the suggestions or I'd be pretty damn broke after this!
Leroux: Dark Messiah is by the same developer studio that did Arx Fatalis, so no coincidence there. :)
I can't promise that you'll feel the same way, but Arx Fatalis, Enclave and Blade of Darkness (judging by the few I've seen of the latter so far) are among my favorite games on GOG. All great immersive action based dungeon crawlers with a dark fantasy theme, despite their differences.
Glad to know! I've been on this really big dungeon crawling kick lately, not sure what exactly sparked it but it even has me looking at Dungeons and Dragons Online.
and those games being by the same developer explains so much. haha, if its anything like Dark Messiah, I will fall in lov with it.
iippo: Certainly you have already played through Ultima Underworld 1 + 2?
Or Legend of Grimrock perhaps?
Not certain if Thief -series are what youre looking for, but steampunk / low-fantasy kinda of setting with lots of stuff to pilfer. Ive played the first two and really liked them. Havent yet tried the third one. It seems the series will be fashionably rebooted - hopefully theyll manage it well.
I've yet to touch the Ultima games honestly, but I have played Legend of Grimrock and that's like the experience I'm looking for in a way, I love the hidden items and riddles, I just always preferred a 3rd person camera view for my dungeon crawlers, or top down like Torchlight and Diablo.
Taunttheostrich: I've heard some pretty terrible things about Deathtrap Dungeon honestly. :P I thought that was the perfect game for me when they first put it on GOG till I watched some video reviews and gameplay of it. I mean maybe at the sale price it'd be worth a bit of tinkering but it does seem pretty rough, nowhere near as bad as the PS1 version I've heard.
Die by the Sword looks interesting . I'm worried if the graphics would cause eye strain judging by the screen caps though.
Two Worlds did get my attention I heard that the first one was in pretty bad shape but the sequel seemed to improve on it. the more I hear about the Gothic series the more intrested I am though, I cant wait to play through them. supposedly G3's expansion was awful though.

Fever_Discordia: Just about everyone says that you should use the 'Arx Liberatis' source port for Arx Fatalis, but you should find all the info on that in a sticky on the game specific forum - you should always check those here on gog.com for community patches, wide screen mode patches, source ports and the like, always handy!
I havent done too much looking on the forums I'm usually very tweaked about interacting with the gaming community for some reason or another, but that does sound incredibly helpful! anything to get the best experience for sure!
