Does anybody have experience with making games to be used with ScummVM? I have a few ideas I want to work on, if nothing more than a hobby, and I'm wondering if someone can point me towards some resources. I'm hoping that it doesn't end up being illegal, so I could release whatever I make when I am finished.
I am not being coy, I really don't know exactly what I would do. It's just an idea. I figured the GoG community would know best :-P
Thanks!
Nemanja
There's a few projects like ScummGEN and ScummC which aim to create compilers for the SCUMM engine, and then play them on ScummVM.
So far there's OpenQuest which can be played in ScummVM, it's detected as Day of the Tentacle.

I've talked with sronsse, the developer of ScummGEN a few times. He aims to make it more user-friendly than ScummC. Neither projects (I think) are really in useable states right now, but you could look into them and maybe even help develop them.
Even if it might be interesting to create a new game using Scumm engine, or at least being playable with ScummVM, I don't really understand the need to do that.
I mean, ScummVM is made to play old games, with no more support (at least until recently with LucasArts games), and not playable anymore on recent systems.
What I mean is, if you just want to create an old-school adventure game, it would be better imo to use a "recent" engine. There are several adventure game editors, like for exemple the nice Adventure Game Studio (free).
Thanks guys, I'll look at the options. The big reason I wanted to do ScummVM is that it's available for everything, so if I want people to try out what I made, I wouldn't be restricted to windows. Since Adventure Game Studio meets that criteria, and it looks very very nice, I think I might go with that. I like how they allow it to be released commercially too, it's good to have options.
I think I'll go with AGS for now, Thanks DarthKaal!
