Maybe few of you remember the promo on McGame.com when they were giving away Ubisoft games for free.

I took HOMM5 and wanted to play it finally, and discovered that the game is gone from my account.

It was free, so I'm not going to cry (maybe weep a little bit), but it's totally not cool to delete a game just like that, with no information or anything.

Could you check your accounts?

Yup, HOMM5 is missing from my account also.

I am emailing support. I wonder what's their excuse is going to be. I don't recall their offer was only to lend a game for a specific time.

Guess I'll have to buy HOMM5 on GOG.com some day...

Were they downloadable games, or keys to some other services? Or does McGame have a gaming client of their own that you have to use in order to play it?

I recall I also took part to that promo, and downloaded some game(s) from there to my repository. Maybe I should check whether they are still functional, ie. the possible online authentication still works.

I _think_ one of the games I selected was some semi-new entry in the "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six" series, could be "Lockdown" or whatever. I don't recall what the other game was. Or then I am mixing it up with some other free game promo.

Digital download, either from their page or via their client.

Ok, then in that case I should have my promo games on my external HDD. I need to check it, just to confirm if they still work, regardless of what has happened in the McGame service.

This sounds a bit similar case as someone reported he wasn't able to download the Strategy First games anymore from the SFI homepage, when he got back to them later (I downloaded them ASAP, when I bought the bundle. At least those games are DRM-free, so I should be fine as long as I have the installers).

Anyway, if McGame.com is still around, it will be interesting to hear what their explanation is. I first thought this was about McGame.com site/service disappearing altogether.

SFI bundle was sold on the worst digital shop ever existing and it had limited download time in their ToS. McGame.com says nothing about download limitations or anything like that, and yet they seem to deleted all games they gave away for free.

I hope I'll see a reply from them soon.
I wouldn't buy anything in an eshop that tries to copy steam visage
Did you check the German version of McGame? They're the ones that held the promo, and they do not share game libraries with the English version.

Yeah I recall there was some limitation, but I apparently remembered wrong that it was a number of times you can re-download any game, not a limited download time. Either way, I decided to download them all and keep a local copy of them. And I did the same with McGame.

SFI was pretty bad though. The download system and speed were pitiful, and their quality assurance wasn't too good, e.g. many games seemed to have severe problems running in Windows 7 and/or new-ish hardware, some games were not apparently patched to latest version even if SFI support claimed they were (e.g. Perimeter 2) etc.

But since I got so many DRM-free games for $10, I am still happy with it.

I am not too concerned about the McGame's, as they were free games, but it still is valid thing to investigate. Just because they gave us game licenses for "free", doesn't mean they are free to block us from using those licences any time they want. Hopefully it is just some glitch in the system.

And I would argue there is no such thing as "free" anyway. I think they got something from me as well, like I used my precious time to create an account to their service, I gave some information about myself to them etc.

Really? I didn't know that, I will check that right away

Edit: yeah, that's the case.

If you go to mcgame.com/de , the game is still there. What a strange thing, but that solves the problem.

Agreed. That's just really tacky.
