Technically its a reboot but its the 5th game anyway.

Looks like there's echoes of the past going on here. If only this legal action indicated that a top class Robotech mech piloting game was on the way, I'd love to have a really good Robotech game
Greedy jerks!
I didn't read the article really but they are probably greedy jerks. :)

Every time I hear the name Robotech, I'm reminded of one thing: Carl ****ing Macek. Ugh.

I heard that the reseen unseens were becoming unseen again from the Battletech website. I think HG is just being a douche bag at this point. Especially if they claim rights over more than just the Warhammer in that video. Afaik the Jenner and Atlas were originals to Battletech. Hopefully there's still a chance that the Battlemaster and Shadowhawk make it into the game.

To be fair, FASA (the original Mechwarrior/BattleTech people) thought they had a legal right to those images through a licensing agreement they had with another company, Twentieth Century Imports. Unfortunately, TCI did not have the rights to give, so FASA was basically scammed. FASA did try to fight Harmony Gold over the rights quite bitterly, which HG did not like very much, so I wouldn't be surprised if this whole new lawsuit is just a knee-jerk reaction based on the past history of BattleTech and HG.
Seems the Unseen will remain unseen. :(
Well, this is not good news. :( Fortunately the "unseen" is a very small selection of mechs; the most popular and recognisable mechs are all FASA's own designs, so this won't affect the game too severely.

So what, they fought each other rather than team up against the company that fucked them both over?

TCI did have some rights... to the Macross plastic models... but not the artwork that FASA used. Yet, TCI was able to sell models with that artwork featured on the box. It was a huge legal gray area so they naturally fought over it. In the end, FASA was forced to give up the now known as "unseen" mechs and TCI disappeared (went out of business).
