Believe it or not, my first exposure to WWII shooters in general, much less this specific series. Unless, of course, you count Return to Castle Wolfenstein, which doesn't exactly get high marks for historical accuracy.

Has anyone played this? I watched about five minutes of youtube footage, checked the system requirements, and figured for $3.38 even playing it for a coupla hours would be worth the value.

As for my question - in the LP I was watching a tiny bit of, the gamer started in the tutorial but said he had all the upgrades for all his weapons. Is that a cheat code, or can you replay missions with achieved stuff, like a New Game+ mode? (I do hope it's the latter, I hate completely linear mission progression in any game).

Frustratingly enough, it took almost two hours to download the installation files from GG. Then it said it couldn't access an "HKEY DIR" or some such nonsense and wouldn't finish installing, BUT GG's installer went ahead and deleted the temp files after I told it not to. Now I've got to redownload the whole thing and see if it works this time.

Sounds like a registry issue.

The game is OK but nothing more. The controls especially feel wonky on the PC version. Very smoothed out and unnatural compared to PC-developed shooters like CoD. Obvious console port.

Register it on EADM and download it from there. It will download an installer in the cache folder which you can backup and install without EADM if you so choose.
A common problem with installing this game is that installation will always fail if you have Physx installed. You will have to uninstall Physx, install MoH:A, uninstall the old version of Physx that was installed with the game, and reinstall your current version.

Thanks, guys. It seems like it was an access error - I had forgotten how awkward it was to work with Vista. Basically the downloader wasn't being permitted to put files into the GG temporary file folder, so it was downloading stuff my computer immediately deleted. If it doesn't work this time I'll definitely give the EADM thing a shot.

OmegaX, what is PhysX, and how would I go about installing a newer version?

PhysX is a terrible thing made by Satan and bought by NVIDIA. Terrible unefective (but in some scenes very WOW) physical engine. And no, just uninstall it. The instalator will find some version and end, killing all.

I've just installed it last friday ( and finished it in 7 hours) and i have same problem with it.

Airborne is... what happens when what could have been a great game is ruined by developmental shortcuts and stupid decisions.

Enemies endlessly spawn unless you cross a certain invisible checkpoint negating sniping.

The super soldiers with the minigun take 2-3 headshots to kill (wtf is this, an arcade game?).

Had they fixed those two glaring flaws it would have been a much better, though short, experience.

Oh man, Airborne. I got it in the 10th Anniversary compilation, and I have to say, of the games, it's my favorite. I just loved everything about it, really. Although then I feel guilty because I wasn't actually terribly impressed by Allie Assault.

That seems like a terrible idea, making a physics engine that precludes the installation of another game using the same engine. Thanks for the help! Oh, but this sort of thing happens all the time. Look at the Mercenaries series - the first one could have been great, but had some flaws that kept it mediocre. They tried to correct things in the second one, and rushed it so much that it ended up being far WORSE.

Grrrr. I sincerely doubt I'll be buying anything else from GamersGate. I know the installation problem isn't their fault, but their download-and-install format that they use really is a pain in the ass if it doesn't install properly. Downloading 7GB for anything is frustrating, and doing it twice is hair-tearing.

Amazing. EA included a video card check, so my unlisted manufacturer's video card on the computer I downloaded the game to won't run the game, even though it WOULD run it if the game didn't do a check before it started. Now I'm having to uninstall the game from that and redownload it AGAIN on my computer with a Radeon X1300 card. This was totally not worth the time and trouble. Next, I expect to find that the activation code is one use only, so I'll need to contact EA or GG and work with them to be able to install it.

Dude, that sucks. I hope you enjoy it even more than I did when you finally get it running, just to make up for this awful installation shit.
