So thanks to all wo replied o my stem reqs post. Assassn's creed is great, and runs on medium quite well, UNTIL I nter Damascus. It's choppy. I'll go back and see what I can do, but any suggestions? It works on low
It also crashes soemtimes, maybe because of overheating.
My Specs:
2.16 GHz Core Duo
256 760GT (Nvidia)
1 GB RAM
Windows XP
My 2nd comp has more RAM, but a 9300M GS, which is apparently bad
Looks to me like your processor may be lacking. I used to have the same problem, but I upgraded to a slightly faster Core 2 Duo and put some more RAM in there (4 Gigs). It could even be the fact that your video card is 256 MB (though I could be reading the way you wrote those numbers wrong, and I'm unfamiliar with anything above my 9800 GT, so I'm not sure if a 760GT or higher runs differently).
That's a very low processor for the game, video card aside... probably choppy in larger, more active areas.
Do you have crowds on low?
Hmm yeah it's pretty low
I tried Damascus, it works with lowest details and 2nd worst graphics quite well, and I like it, but it crashes again.
I'll try crowds on low, but I own a Mac (the shame, I know) with bootcamp, so I might have to return it........

Sorry 7600GT
Mid-range, mid performance, but value for money!!
Assassin's Creed is a very demanding game. For such games you're going to need to spend some more on your computer too.
Slap some more memory in that rig, for starters. You can get RAM free with cereal packets these days. So unless that's the maximum your system can handle then there's no excuse for not getting more.
Upgrading that graphics card to something superior wouldn't be too costly either.

The 7600GT could really be causing the problems. I havnt played Assasin Creed on the PC (Bro's 360) but i have a feeling that could be it. That and the one gig of Ram. You WILL be amazed by how much one extra gig will help.
I assume you have allready tried closing certain background tasks down? Also if your will to go into overclocking a little that may help.
Oh and Navagon, i would'nt mind if you could point me to these packs of cereal! I would be greatly appreciated

Don't they sell Kellogg's RAMflakes "256 bytes in every bowl" down under?
I did say I have a god forbidden Mac, right?
Ergo no upgrades (except maybe RAM)
Well i tried reducing res and everything and it works well in Damascus (mb2)
But after about 5-10 minutes, the game crashes and i'm left on a screwed up Windows
It can't be overheating, because i gave the computer a break and tried, and it's not a particular thing-just 10 minutes ogf goign anywhere and it goes

A 2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo is sufficient to play most games, including Assassin's Creed.
Your problem is probably the 1 GB of RAM.

Truth.
Steal a gig stick of ram from your other computer and put it in the one you're using.

You can cram in the RAM. No worries there. And it would make for a significant improvement too. You could upgrade your graphics card, but it would require some careful research as to which are supported by your exact version of the OS.

They'd have to both be using the same type. DDR2 isn't compatible with DDR motherboards and vice versa.

Yeah well I'm supposing he knows SOMETHING about how to put ram in...
NOTE: If the ram doesn't go in the slot even if you push, do not destroy the computer trying to RAM the ram in....
Sorry but I lol'd at that... :)
