Hi all

Does anyone know how to get micro machines v3 working on windows 7 or 8? I have 8 but it's basically the same thing as 7. I have a NVidia gtx 670 btw. When I launch the game the menu is fine, but when I enter any sort of race it crashes (even the tutorial). I've tried compatibility settings, they don't do anything.

Anyone know a fix?
Thanks

Sorry to derail a thread here but I had NO IDEA they made MM games for PCs. I cherish the old console ones.
I just noticed V3 on Amazon via Sold Out Software which usually comes with all the patches and tweeks already in place so I'm assume you don't have that version.

Have you played V1,2, or 4 on a PC? How do they look/run? Again I'm sorry to go off topic but I feel like I may have just been reborn! :D +1

I do in fact have the Sold out software version! It's pretty old though. No patches on it.

I haven't played the other MM games on PC. I played v4 on the ps2 once but I like v3 more. Probably just because of nostalgia, it was the first game I ever played pretty much. Also the main menu is the best one I've ever seen! That music...

I recall having the same problems, and I also have the UK Sold Out edition, but that very same version did work on Win98 back in the day, so it's not the game. I do recall it working on WinXP, but only in software mode.

I'll have a look myself later. I saw it for PS1 at a boot sale a while back and was tempted to bite, but I thought I'd give the PC version one more try.

Thanks. I've heard some of the new ones have StarForce on them which is usually a big no no. I may just stick with the roms for now.

Only Micro Machines V4, and you'll have to get a crack if you want to play it on Win7 anyway, because that particular version of StarForce refuses to work under Win7.

Yeah my version worked fine on '98 too, I'm considering setting up a virtual machine since I still have the disk somewhere. I remember installing '98 once, and it giving me a tour of the new features - "Browse the internet with exciting new features like the back, forward and home buttons!"
