Why do you care about gamerscore - especially seeing as you don't have a 360? It's just a number and one that in your case is going to remain low.

As for the reasons for hating it:

- Ludicrous region restrictions. Not available in a great many countries, including ones the games are actually sold in. Yeah, you read that right. People are being sold games they can't even hope to play thanks to GFWL.

- Encrypted save games. Clearly the mark of the irredeemable. Such a pointless act of malice against gamers as to not let them back up their save games is even less forgiveable than some of the crazy DRM out there simply because it has no valid justification.

- No actual planning gone into its creation whatsoever. I can't imagine anything else trying to force through an update actually during the account creation process - destroying the account in the process.

- Equally I can't imagine anything else dumb enough to not allow you to log in before you've entered the game's serial even though you need it to be online in order to actually add the game to your account.

- Terrible. Just terrible.

Yes, the 360 is intergrated with Facebook and Twitter. Not to the extent as shown in this video, but it's there.

Honestly, I think the video can be summarised as follows: "We're going to port the 360 OS to Windows.".

But they're completely unusable unless you pay for a gold membership.

As with most of the 360's features. That's the point of the subscription.

I will never buy any game that forces me to deal with that platform, even if it means my years as a gamer are over when I run out of backlogged games to play.

From the video, this is pretty clearly targeted at casual audiences.

The thing about nice, fancy dancy interfaces is that they need to be optional. I remember everyone being up in arms about Steam's new paintjob not too far back, because it made it slower, more bloated, etc. I'd rather use the old Steam, but I know a lot of people who much prefer it now.

From the comments in this thread I was really worried before watching the video. To me it looks like Microsoft just wants a slice of the Facebook pie which is fine.

When they start shoving the application for this into the OS like IE is when we should start complaining. If anything it will probably be like Live (the bundle of software, not the crappy DRM) where they tried to push it but never forced any installations.

If this was forced upon all Windows users, Microsoft employees would need bulletproof cars and houses. They might be stupid, but they're not THAT stupid.

Whilst I appreciate your point, it's not quite as much "bloatware" as installing that GFWL monstrosity would be, plus Bing's not actually that bad (being that they copy all their search results from Google anyway).

It was a joke. a reference to my past post about how bad microsoft got it wrong, and forced a horror upon us. I actualy use Bing, and fight google with every breath.

Might I ask what Google did wrong?

The list would be very long. But lets kick off with the Orphaned Books thing, they essentially tried to obtain the rights to anything someone else had not claimed copyright to. It was devious.

Then there is the Wi-fi slurping scandal that they actual sent people out to gether data that they shouldn't. Their defense was enough to prevent criminal charges, but that if anything was embarassing to both America and the UK.

Then there was their abuse of compeitition being investigated by the EU at the moment, with a very strong case being brought by Foundem suggesting that they actually stifle comptetition.

Weather it be M$ or Apple. It'll be locked to a point that something will not run or work.
Weather it be FaceBook or whatever. It'll still suck in the ones who don't know that there are people outside as well as online.

Though I might be sleeping at the keyboard right now after reading all what has been typed here.
