As of next month it will have been three years since i laid down the PS2, Nintendo DS, turned to the computer and bought Gothic II on steam.

Since then I've amassed over a thousand digital games over several various digital sites.

Every time I ask the question the only game that races to my mind immediately is

Spec Ops: The Line

And normally I would never place a military shooter on the top of my list. I think it has to do with an extremely unique setting, good story, writing, voice acting and the fact that it's almost a Twilight Zonish horror story without ever crossing the boundaries of Fiction into Science Fiction.
Same, along side Hotline Miami and Limbo.
For me; The Longest Journey. It was one that lived up to the hype!
The Witcher 2 and, in a wholly different genre, Achtung Panzer : Operation Star
Memorable doesn't necessarily mean good. Just saying. :P Personally I'd love to hear some digital game horror stories.
I'll go for The Witcher 2, heck it led me to GOG.

More recently I'll go with The Walking Dead, takes a damn fine piece to get me to tear up.
Amnesia first true horror game i played in first person.
Probably Binary Domain!
Toss up between Planescape Torment and Deus Ex
mass effect 1
Mass Effect. I have discovered a couple of gems in digital form but the series bewitched me. It was also the game I signed up for Steam reluctantly.

Lessons learned under pain are indeed more memorable than anything else. Dragon Age Origins was such a game for me. I spend quite a huge number of ours on it, finishing it, but the last 10 hours or so were a real pain because I simply didn't feel entertained hooked by the story anymore. Didn't buy the rest of the franchise. Swords of the Stars 2 is another one; Released in a near-alpha state, its enhanced version manages to be more boring than Master of Orion 3, no small feat indeed.

Deus Ex. While I played it before, it came a whole new game after finally getting HDTP and NewVision to run without having problems with sound working.

This actually has me thinking and I have to say my most memorable digital games (in a good way) are the ones I already had but now I get to play tweeked, DRM free, and one click from a very accessible forum should I get stuck. Deus Ex for sure applies to me as well as Solders, Battle Realms, and Undying. All good games but 100% better now that I have them on digital.
Hmmm. I was a PC gamer with discs for over 15 years, so most of the classics I played before I went digital.

I think the best and most memorable game I have bought as a download would probably be Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Just the perfect mix of all my favorite genres and gameplay styles (stealth, shooter, RPG) and in my favorite setting of (mostly) cyberpunk future.

I think it was one of my first digital purchases of a "core" game, too. I remember canceling my amazon pre-order of the boxed version.
