reaver894: Id like to give this topic a little bump, I'm still looking for suggestions for games that I can play on my PC that have a co-op option where I and my friend who uses a Mac OS can play together. Probably VS AI since we do this to just chill.
If you want a fantastic co-op experience just to chill, I heartily recommend Portal 2. Best campaign-based co-op experience I've ever had with a friend. Voice chat is recommended, but not necessary.

I don't know anything about different OS X versions, but it is cross platform between Windows, OS X and PS3.

reaver894: Heres a thought.... Borderlands. Would that work through gameranger?

Edit: Apparently it "could" work but gameranger doesnt work with the maveric version of mac OS
Borderlands 2 is PC/Mac cross-platform on Steam... usually.
Both PC and Mac have to be the same version. Since Gearbox outsourced the Mac port to Aspyr, every time Gearbox releases an update for PC, Aspyr has to port it to Mac before cross-platform play will work - and that will take a few days, maybe a week or more.

As far as I know, both PC and Mac are the same version right now. And since it seems the bombardment of DLC has finally stopped, and the last update to Borderlands 2 was in April, I'd say you probably wouldn't run into much trouble playing cross-platform.

This, this, this! The ultimate chill experience. My friend and I (Mac and PC, respectively) played this for countless hours. Without voice chat even. And now there are over 40,000 user-made co-op chambers. Enough to last the rest of your lives.

ta mate. found a couple of options for MP things including starcraft and a few others.
This one may be a bit different... I haven't personally tried co-op yet, but Contraption Maker on Steam allows cross platform co-op puzzle building.
It is the spiritual successor to The Incredible Machine, made by the same team from the '90s. (And just as good as the originals, in my opinion.)
It's in early access right now, but the full version is launching in 3 days. I'm not sure if the price will change then, but right now it is pretty cheap, and comes with an extra giftable copy when you buy it.
