I was looking a while back at Amazon.uk for games that were UK only releases.
I found one game I was interested in and downloaded the demo. I lost the demo because of a virus.
It was a multi strategy simulation.
You started out inside this space cruiser where this military guy was barking orders at you for the tutorial. After that you ran over to your space ship and got in it. After getting out of the hanger without crashing and dying. You go down to the planet and shoot at tanks and troops. I think you could get out of the aircraft and walk around.
I lost the demo because my PC got a virus.
Can you name the game? I've been trying to remember for months.

Remember any information about how old it was or how dated the graphics look?

Universal Combat or one of the later incarnations of Derek Smarts Genious/Madness from 3000AD (Universal Combat – Collectors’ Edition v2.0, Galactic Command or All Aspect Warfare)?
It has giant space battlecruisers, you can fly fighters and land on planets...

I don't think it was a UK-only release though. Could be wrong though.

You're probably right but it was only one that came to mind...

I played it about a year ago. I don't know how old it was. The graphics weren't dated and not state of the art. Looked very indi but polished.
I'll try to remember more.
The first area was an island if that helps.

Nope, but thanks for trying. :)
You were just a soldier but could use vehicles or so it seemed.

Hmm. I think I have this game.
Is it an FPS? If so, it could be Breed

According to Wikipedia, that isn't a UK only release.

When I played the demo it was the only place it was available.
