Andanzas: Why not? What's wrong with it?

Foxhack: Isn't it a multiplayer-only game?

The only one I can tolerate is TF2. I'm not really interested in adding a game that I'll never play to my Steam account. Well, another one. I have plenty. :p
You can always play private matches solo with bots.

Nah. No fun in that.

If I get the bundle I'll just give these keys away.

Gazoinks: I'm hoping Fez will show up as an addon, since I kinda want it but probably won't bother buying it, but that's unlikely I suppose. I hope it's not Don't Starve, I already have that. >.>

SLP2000: Too soon for both games. Next HIB is more probable.
Especially when Don't Starve is doing so well on steam,,, even without benefit of a discount atm.. devs would be shooting themselves in the foot for a short term gain especially as a bonus? ...so dont think it will happen right now

Yeah, I'd agree with that. I think the addon is likely to be the HIB7 games.

I dunno, they haven't been doing it like that for the last few bundles. Rather than just outright add the games from the last bundle, they're more likely to add a couple from previous bundles and one new one.

keeveek: Hotline Miami soundtrack is made by various artists and the devs don't have much to say about it.
avatar
kalmis666: I know that. You can even buy two half the soundtrack from Bandcamp.
So just dreaming! :)
I read about both the GOG and the Steam version that they contain the soundtrack in the game folder as .ogg files, but that doesn't seem to be the case with the DRM-free version of HIB? I can't find them in the game folder of my installation.

Not checked in GOG but my steam copy has the soundtrack in the game folder, right there, no subfolders.

Cheers.

That's what I feared, seems the HIB version is different. Well, I guess if I really wanted it, I could activate the HIB games on Steam and then get it from there.

Indeed, I can confirm you the soundtrack will be there if you activate the key on Steam.

No biggie have fun, Hotline Miami is awesome, and the soundtrack and the artist's other works are excellent aswell! checkout Perturbator. :)
What's great about Hotline Miami? It seems to be a... how do you say this... shmup rogue?

Is there any plot or story? Or is it just 16 bit shooting?

It's not a rogue-like, and not quite shmup either. It's split into small missions (aka screens) where the goal is to take out all people in the apartment in one go without getting killed. But you can't just barge in a room and fire indiscriminately. There is no health bar, you're just as vulnerable as your opponents or even more so. If you get hit, you're dead. If you die, you start at the entrance again and have to do it all over, but the missions are short and you can complete them in a few minutes (or even seconds if you're good?). It involves a bit of stealth gameplay and tactics (e.g. shooting will alert others in the vicinity and it's hard to dodge their attacks if they come in groups).

There is a plot, from what I've seen (it starts in medias res with a mysterious and thrilling moment and then the actual game is a flashback to that), but it isn't predominant and during the missions you learn very few about what's going on (well, during the actual missions you learn nothing at all, I think, only during the intros and outros of each chapter, and only a little).

I think what makes it stand out is mostly the atmophere, the mystery and music, and the fast-paced gameplay which allows for a bit of quick, freeform experimentation. At the end of each chapter you get points and titles relating to your playstyle, your boldness, your killing combos etc. It's pretty brutal and gory, of course, in case that puts you off.

Hotline Miami is NOT a shmup or a rogue, it's an action/stealth/arcade game, and one of the best games ever made. If you contradict me, I'm gonna hit you.

In many ways it is more of a puzzle game than a rogue like or SHMUP, you have to figure out the best solution for each map.
