We haven't released an action title for a long time, so it's a great moment to boost adrenaline in your veins with this multiplayer mayhem.
Mobile Forces is a first-person shooter, geared towards team-based multiplayer games and bot matches. Based on the Unreal 1 engine, this title introduced something which was extremely rare at the time - well-implemented vehicles in an FPS game, which actually fit it well in multiplayer battles. This allowed Mobile Forces to feature very large maps, as players could use the different vehicles to quickly relocate from one point to the next (hence the title). The game offers addictive gameplay and has low system requirements, making it a great choice for a quick LAN party, even if your friends only brought their netbooks along.
Yay for GOG Tuesdays!
I used to love this back in the day - it felt like true team-based gameplay for the first time ever.
Just one question - is internet play supported these days? Or just LAN and bots?

Yes, but you'll need a new master list, since the devs took down their master server thingy. Or has GOG found a new way to fix it? Anyways, the file links are here.

Sweet been waiting for this one. Will be buying it later tonight =)
Not even sure if I have ever heard of this game. Any idea what it is like as it looks a bit generic?
Looks interesting alright. Probably one for the basket o'games
Sadly another title that obviously passed me by in the day.
Looking forward to trying this out tonight :)
Not heard of this either, but it ticks all the right boxes for me.
Will purchase tonight :)
A friend had it back in the day, so I tried it out and it was nothing spectacular for me.
I'll pass this one and get something from the wishlist instead.
It is an mp only game (singleplayer practice with bots only) I think. I hope game servers are working too.
Seems someone has a real love of fine art.

Looks like another one of those hidden gems I may have overlooked.
However, it looks like it was released at around the same time as the one game that really popularized these sort of FPSs: Battlefield 1942. (Yes, I know that we had multiplayer FPSs-with-vehicles like SkyNET, Redline, Codename: Eagle, Starsiege: Tribes, and such, but BF1942 actually made it mainstream.)
I wonder how they compare.
Is it just me, or does this game (being a team-based FPS, after all), just CRY for some UT-like dedicated servers? :-)

NamelessFragger: Battlefield 1942.

MF lacks the sprawling-ness of BF1942 (Is sprawling-ness a word? It should be!) so it's much less tactical. Think polished UT99 mod with vehicles and you're there. Because that's all it is.
I played it regularly from release until the servers started to die away, and liked it a lot. It captures that UT99 vibe, but the vehicle stuff made teamwork more important. I'm interested to see how it stacks up by today's standards - vehicular shooters are commonplace now, so I would guess it's average at best - but it could still be fun on a full server.
