The answer is much longer off course, but bottom line - she is a fairly stronger customer, and she likes the product in theory. They do not cater for her, which is why the short answer was yes.... You are trying to say, a lot of females have no choice but to turn to casual games due to all the big games catering to straight males but you don't know that. It could be, a lot of female gamers turn to casual games because that is what they like. And I'm sure companies like EA with all that money knows the truth from collecting data. Isn't it kind of funny that the "majority" in this thread is represented by one or two vocal members arguing with all the "minority" gamers? Must be a GOG phenomenon ... :D

I'm just grateful that I'm able to enjoy Beyond Good & Evil, Aquaria, Syberia, The Longest Journey, Portal, Tomb Raider, Donkey Kong Country, Escape Goat, Pacman etc. without feeling estranged that I'm playing an ape, a goat, a creepy yellow munching ball or something as alien as a woman (with boobs! *shivers*). :)

It may be true that she's a minority, but some of these depictions are unnecessary. Do these depictions of loved women turning into monsters really sell better? What about using a father rather than mother? How would this affect sales?

Some awareness of the issue might lead to game designers trying to widen the appeal, and that might actually work.

And yes, my mother prefer casual games (and platformers) but of you are into RPG's or more core games, you have not choice. I do not think my girlfriend is that unique in this case. She is pretty unique in many ways, but not here.

If you are female, and a gamer, you have very little choice and if you want to play you need to buy games which do not cater for you. Either this or not play at all. Which is why they also buy them.

So are all Women gamers cloned from your girlfriend that if they meet her needs they will have pleased all of them? I want to see a better female presence in gaming but the only way is for them to make themselves to make them look like a viable market, appealing to Ethics don't matter when talking to an industry that doesn't care or need to care, they target the audience that they think will make them money for what they do. A girl can like action movies but she has to swallow the machismo that comes with them. Expecting people to try and please everyone is foolish.
