Lifthrasil: Hm. Still no reply as to what the special things are that 'this machine can do'.
Still three hours to the announcement. If anyone has a working time machine they haven't been posting here.

timppu: Oh yeah, I also want to know if it will be backwards compatible
Well, MS was never big on backwards compatibility. So I doubt it.
I bought the first Xbox, which I still think was an excellent console, and my wife got me the 360 in 2008. I've had some good times with that one, although I noticed that after cleaning up on the earlier titles, the quality of games went steadily downward over time, especially after Microsoft decided to back Kinect so much. Right now I've got no interest in whatever Microsoft might announce. I want games but they only seem to be interested in selling an online, general entertainment appliance with Facebook and Netflix and other stuff I can already access through other means.
Here we go

I baulk at what became of XBLA. By now there are probably around 20 good XBLA titles that aren't HD rereleases (admittedly there are also the downloadable original Xbox titles); a completely failed indie games section, a load of kinect shovelware and DLC for Rock Band 3.
xbox one. possibly the most stupid name ever. just saying
Never had an XBox, never want one.

Bill didn't earn his millions by playing fair with competitors. He's even attempting to swamp out PC periphal manufacturers with his own brand of game pads. And anymore Bill outside of the Windows OS nonsense is far too much Bill for me - less I be forced to eat Bill Gatey-O's every morning for breakfast.

I used to stand strong by Nintendo but even their greed sunk them this round.

This time PS3 has been the overlooked quiet, grateful, child - But I still don't apply to that "Get a second job to afford one." mindset and I'm not about to apply that much money towards a console and game for it either.

It is an all-in-one entertainment system, not just for games.
"future-proof"

...

Kinect is always watching o.o

Wow. That's truly an ugly box with horrific amounts of gloss. Controller doesn't look that good either, with one of the face buttons threatening to fall off the side.

Also, all those who agreed on the 'One' name need to go turn in their Liberal-Arts degrees.

I bet that a majority of these apps won't be even available here again.

So far typical hyping and average show which drags too long. I expect same thing from Sony. And from another GOG press conference. But at least GOG's audience is better; always silent instead of forced enthusiastic squeaks :D.

This is the thing that strikes me the most. Did they forget it was the third iteration or something? Calling it the Zero would have at least had a precedent, even if it doesn't make any more sense.

I guess in this era of gritty re--

No wait, "Glossy" isn't gritty.

...Nope, I'm not seeing much logic to this either now that I've eliminated the only good excuse.

Reminds me a bit of the HTC "One" series (which was made up of several models)... followed by the HTC One.
