mondo84: That sounds delicious, actually.
I've had a deep fried Mars bar. It was basically batter, but with the ancient remains of about 6 grams of chocolate inside it.

I love eating the remaining batter when I bake cookies or banana bread. Mmm so good.

Antimateria: well yes, some kind of cookie? =P

nijuu: Cant say i really know :)...we don't get them here either.....
The closest I can think of what a Twinkie is like is think of a sponge cake type thing with a cream filling.
I thought this was a compilation of all the bad things developers do.

Ernest Adams does a series of articles on it,

Were Twinkies ever sold outside America?

I've actually eaten one, and that was a couple of decades ago as a kid (before Die Hard 1, mind you), when a close relative of mine had visited US and brought some here. He just kinda wanted to show something that Americans eat a lot. It was ok, I guess. Quite creamy.

I don't recall seeing one ever after. And apparently, never will.

Dzsono: I wonder if they are as repulsive as a deep-fried Snickers bar?
There is a food cart somewhat near my residence that deep fries pie. I shit you not, you can buy deep fried chocolate caramel pie. Actually that's just an example, they have over a dozen options of super sugary, fatty pie you can have deep fried...

Hungarian food is reputedly quite heavy, but I can't even begin to imagine finishing one of those pies. Have you tried one? How do you feel afterwards?!

Those are off the menu for me, so no, I haven't tried one. My friends have said they are "good", but their taste may be in question.
Fear not, sad movie cops and zombie survivors. "Real" twinkie production in the United States will return this July under the ownership of private equity firms Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Co. (rolls off the tongue)(same factory, same workers, same twinkie, just lower wages and no union) who purchased the "snack" during Hostess bankruptcy. I will continue to disdain, but maybe I'm just snooty.
