It would be nice to give an indication of what game it is, it's a bit harsh to have a huge puzzle without giving any idea of what the game is. Just saying.
I figured out the code in the picture but have no clue how to dismantle the sound file. Thanks anyway.

Thespian*: Also, a little promotion in the giveaways' listing thread:

Thankee. :)

pbmacros: Please wait a little before giving hints (a week or so)
because I haven't much free time to spend, but would like to try solving it.
Given that at least one half has been solved already and so I'm not spoiling the game for anyone, I intend to start posting hints tonight, once it's been up for 24 hours. I'll put them on a separate page though, so you don't need to worry about accidentally looking at them. I'm not going to give the whole solution right away either. Today's hint will just be about how to get started.

If you're trying to do it to win a game, rather than for the fun of it, then this thread probably isn't for you. Given how long I estimate it would take me to do it and the price of the game, you're going to end up working for about £1 an hour. You'd be better off doing a paper round. :p

ooo, awesome. I'm glad someone managed it already, even if just one half. :)

Don't misconstrue what I'm saying :( There's two parts here; the puzzle solving and the prize. By what you're saying, you may as well just not give any prize at all and say 'well, here's a puzzle for puzzle's sake', which is clearly not the case; you're aiming to incentivise people by giving out a game as a reward. So, since there is a prize involved, it would be nice for people to be able to calculate whether or not the effort to solve the puzzle is worth the reward to them.

For example; it would be a particularly sour experience if the reward was a code for Realms of Arkania 3 (or Beneath a Steel Sky, Teen Agent, Tyrian, etc...), even if you had enjoyed solving the puzzle.

Hehe, well no, it's not a free game. :) It's a $5.99 one.

The reason I'm not giving out the title now is so that if anyone does solve it, they will be able to post the title as definitive evidence that they were the first, if they want to.
I've added the second hint, which should be enough to help anyone with no clue how to begin get started. Please keep spoilers out of this thread though. :)

Sorry, OT. I am curious what the Summoner patch in your website is for?

Download it and look at the readme?

*checks*

ok, actually that readme is pretty useless... :p

It makes it display in 32 bit mode (fixes dithering problems on dx10 class hardware,) it lets you modify the screen resolution (slightly buggy in some menus) gives you access to the developer console, lets you control gameplay speed, lets you zoom the camera out further, and interact with objects from further away and fixes a crash bug on processers >4GHz. (Or at least, where the performance counter is ticking over faster than 4GHz.)

Edit:
See my blog posts on 15th September 2009, 27th September 2009 and 25th October 2009 for more details.

Nope; fallout 2 is $9.99 now. I said it was a $5.99 game. ;) Although fallout 2 is definitely up there in my top few...

Oddly enough, my favourite GOG of all time is one I've never modded. I wasn't particularly computer literate back at the time I was playing it.
Thank you for Fragile Allegiance and also for the really fun puzzle. :)

~cheers~ I'm glad someone got it at last. :)

I think I might have to scale the next one back a bit though. :p
