Well, as somebody suggested, here's a try to an "official wrestling thread" !

So yeah, wrestling fans, unite! Whether you're a fan of WWE, TNA, ROH, CHIKARA, AAA, PWG or any big or small promotion all over the world, here's your thread!

One thing, maybe: let's keep this thread spoiler-free?

So, what's your favorite promotion? And why?

Since I started the thread, I guess I'll be the one answering first. ^_^

I like many promotions, mostly indies or japanese ones, but so far, my best-ever is CHIKARA.

Where in the world can you find a promotion where you can see pirates, ice creams (!), ants (!!), demons (!!!), women, legends of wrestling, all wrestling together and it still makes sense, it's funny as hell, it is miraculously PG friendly and is still an amazing show of wrestling with lots of strong-style, luchadores, old-school wrestling techniques? One word:

CHI-KA-RA ! CHI-KA-RA !

(yeah, I'm a fanboy)

But the roster is simply amazing: Ultramantis Black, Mike Quackenbush, The Colony, 3.0, The Mysterious and Handsome Stranger, Ophidian, Hellowicked, The Swarm, Jigsaw, Delirious and sometimes foreign guests (like Osaka Pro Wrestling for the King of Trios Tournament 2012), Marty Giannetty, Iceberg, The 1-2-3 Kid...

If you're interested, just try to watch a 2011 or 2012 show. And if you like the serious wrestling, the funny times, the incredible action and oer-the-top characters, well, try to grab some much older shows, like circa 2003 and follow up to 2013 from that point. You'll see that, amazingly, the quality never ceases to improve!
MUD!
No seriously. I am a WWE fan since birth and I always liked the polish they had (although I'm pretty sure if you look 'asshole' up in the dictionary it says "see Vince"). Ever notice Vince seems to think his wrestling persona is real? Whenever he gets asked a question he doesn't like from a real reporter he starts talking like Hulk Hogan. Anyway, TNA looks too much like it's done in someone's basement and as of late they have captured the title of most geriatrics on the payroll, a title previously held by WCW untill it was sold.

Come football season I will stop watching RAW in favor of MNF but untill then I'll make sure to drop in here often. Thanks for making the thread.
I started as a fan of the NWA which eventually turned into WCW. Also liked the WWF back then too (I refuse to call the company from the 80s and 90s WWE.) My favorite of all time is Ric Flair, followed by Sting and Vader. During the monday night wars I usually watched both shows as I found something entertaining on each. Even the worst points of Vince Russo idiocy I could still find some comedic value in it.

In modern times I might catch a small bit of Raw and Impact sometimes, but usually forget they are on. The thought of John Cena getting another run with the WWE title after Wrestlemania does nothing for me, so I'll probably keep the same viewing pattern and catch clips of anything I hear was good online. I should try to make myself catch TNA more often.

For CHIKARA I have seen clips of the dude that rambles out random video game phrases. Do they have weekly TV on anywhere?

Not that I know of. They work purely on a "small crowd plus release on DVD" basis. But i know they sometimes do video podcast on their website, to make the link between the shows (they are on a monthly basis, two nights a month).

Maybe the guy you saw was Player Uno? Or his tag-team partner Player Dos?

Haha, I remember that bit (8 bits! 8 bits! ^_^), that was (and still is) funny as hell! ^_^ Player Uno and Dos aren't in the roster anymore, but I think they might have changed their character, that's all.

Anyway, i'm watching CHIKARA's King of Trios Tournament 2012 and boy the nostalgia factor is here! King of Trios is CHIKARA's yearly main show, with wrestlers from many promotions. And for the 2012 edition they got people for JWP and Sendai Girls (two female japanese promotions), ROH, but also WWF (Tito Santana, Tatanka, 1-2-3 Kid, Aldo Montoya, Meng, The Barbarian, The Warlord), ROH and even ECW (Tommy Dreamer, 2 Cold Scorpio...).
And that's only night one, so I don't know yet which teams are competing in night 2! ^_^

It's purely the nostalgia factor playing, but it's great seeing those people in a ring again, and it's great to hear the calls of the crowd, like "that was awesome!", or "you still got it!" in the case of WWF or ECW veterans. ^_^
