Then odds are your SS2 problem lies with OS compatibility. If you have the original SS2, get the SS2Tool (NightDive did just that) and install with it - otherwise it's a crapshoot whether it will run even on XP (what is your OS, btw?). One exception might be if you got it from GameStop. I read somewhere that their version had some obnoxious encryption on the resource files and is pretty much unpatchable. If that's the case, feel free to torrent it - you still have a licence.

As to the rest, it's hard to troubleshoot it from afar, but off the cuff, check whatever settings are available through the card's control panel. Also, check just how much memory is dedicated to the card (it borrows RAM, right?). I found this possible issue, though can't say how relevant it is to your situation. Not much, I know, but it's something...

Lastly, sorry for not being too helpful on the recommendation front. I think a WadjetEye game should do quite nicely, though keep a shooter or racer at hand, just in case you get bored :P

Crazy Off-Topic question related to the above post. Are there any games that let you throw your empty pistol at the bad guy or even use the butt of your shotgun to knock someone out? I would think it would have to be in one of the new Zombie Shooters.
