you guys should see ASCIIPortal.
I'm just wondering if they'll take "BETA" out of the title of the website :-)
One year is way to little time to take it out of beta :P Just look at Gmail, or most google products anyway :D

Whiteblade999: There must be cake!

Elwin: The cake is a lie.

Fixed.

ovoon: I say the people that signed up for the beta last year get of free 9.99$ game of our choice! :D
avatar
Wolfox: I like that idea. Of course, I was in the beta. ;-)

Uh, we're all in the beta, the site/service never left beta... or hasn't yet. I really doubt they would give everyone a free game, but that would be unbelievably cool.
I'm guessing that on the one year anniversary we will see one of or a combination of a few things:
1. The end of the beta
2. The addition of a massive publisher/developer, like EA, Activision, LucasArts, Sierra, etc
3. The addition of one or more of the most requested games
4. MASSIVE sale
5. Site upgrade (shelf 2.0!)
6. Cake for everyone!

System Shock 2!? :D

I meant the closed beta, before the site went public for registrations. Though we were kind of given a $5.99 Interplay game back then (if we bought any other title), so another one now might be a bit excessive.

I do hope for all of those, except the last one. The cake is a lie. ;-)

True but then there could be another Teen Agent style game thats being made Freeware. Hell even if its just the addition of Flight Of The Amazon Queen that'd be sweet.
I'm voting for a mad 50% off sale, possibly with some form of video ad assuring us in ridiculously loud voices that the manangement have gone crazy in the style of The Chaser's War on Everything's Crazy Warehouse Guy

Ah yes, hadn't considered the possibility of another freeware. That would still be cool, but not unbelievably cool like a coupon for free game.
I got my bets on a new partner, a major one; like, dare I say, EA (Origin, Bullfrog, Westwood!)? Eidos (Looking Glass, Ion Storm, etc)? Activition (Sierra, Raven, Infinity Ward, and others), or even LucasArts?
Failing that, probably a massive sale indeed, and/or new freebies.
Whatever it is, I'm game. ;)
Edit:
Or maybe they finally managed to get that D&D deal across, and we may soon see Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment and Icewind Dale. Too much to hope for?

You made me curious, when is the exact date?
I think it's September 8th.

Nope, the closed beta started in August 2008, I'm pretty sure we already passed the actual 1 year mark.
