I think OnLive is really missing out on the Linux and alternative OS market.
There are tons of Linux users who want Windows games, but can't play them at all in their preferred OS without wine (which is far from perfect). I don't think there is a very big market for Windows gamers who will give up games they're already capable of running to play them on OnLive instead.
Would you really play Crysis on OnLive if you could already run it on your PC, and own the game too?
As a Linux user, I would really like to see games natively support Linux, but OnLive seems like a decent alternative, even if you don't really own the games. Which some Linux users would take offense to.
That said, my Internet sucks too much to use this. I can get a good ping, but my down speed is limited to 150kb/s, and my up speed is 50kb/s.

I am tempted to apply, but considering I am praying this fails I guess my opinion would skew the beta.

Mostly I think I just don't want to increase their perceived interest levels.

Same here, OnLive definetly represent the worst DRM ever possible, I don't see myself ever supporting it unless maybe if it's free and only for evaluation purpose.

So, how long do you think it will be before this fails?

I imagine when they do a connection test they will realise that you're quite far from their servers...
They're obviously going to pick people who live in close proximity to the servers for this initial beta, so I would imagine living in a major American city would be necessary.

I would not do it even then as it might encourage others to use the system instead of releasing a psychical copy.
Less than a year is my guess.

So much fail. And yes, I would be extremely curious to how it works if anyone does get in.

I'm both a network engineer and a fan of scams so I'm interested in it on two levels. Obvious bollocks but its fascinating to see how it works. Shame there's no way to legally force them to let genuine networking experts objectively review the system
