Dear fellow GOGlodytes,
Every 4 years there's this little competition called the World Cup. Footballing nations of the world will travel to Brazil and entertain us for a month. This is the first World Cup since I've been a member on GOG and I want to create a pool for all of us to play for fun and prizes; games, lots of games :D
I've been heavily inspired by the ridiculously enjoyable pool held by CrowTRobo last year. However, my goal for this World Cup is to create a pool in which every GOGlodyte can play from the first round until the final, ie, no suicide mechanic. Here are some preliminary rules I've been playing around with:
- all players must nominate an underdog every round for which they earn points for a win or a draw.
- I determine the underdogs for every match and generate a list for everyone to view and make their decisions.
- points are accrued over the entire competition: more points are better.
- Point system: 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss.
- Players will be unaware how others are performing; big reveal after the final.
- I also hope to issue special challenges for insta-giveaways as well, but I don't know what I'll do for that yet.
Now, this is where you guys come in. I need help in the following ways:
- Prizes. I have a lot of codes to giveaway already, but we'd like more, right? I want the prize pool to be as epic as the World Cup itself. All donations would be greatly appreciated and credit will be given, of course ;)
- The rules. I don't have any problems completely changing the rules if we have better ideas. Only the suicide mechanic is disallowed as I'd like us all to enjoy the entire competition together.
- Admin help. Depending on how the rules shape up, we might need some extra admins to keep track of everyone or potentially assist running an external database, etc.
In summary, we only have one chance to do this every 4 years. Let's do it right! Please join me/comment/insult/criticise and help make this fantastic :D
