djdarko: I always wanted the
LEGO Monorail as a kid.
I blame not getting one for how I turned into a bad apple...
awalterj: Guess this explains why I have no criminal record, it must be the LEGO monorail! My older brother and I got this for Christmas in 1987 and I remember the day vividly. This was the most badass present we ever got, and there's so much one could do with it.
I was especially in love with the big blue glass dome parts, back in those days special LEGO parts like that were still rare and of great value if you wanted to build something out of the ordinary. But enough 'rubbing it in', I'm sorry you didn't get this but you can always buy something like this set for your own kids, unless you want them to be bad apples, too? :)
I did eventually get some cool LEGO toys, I had
Monarch Castle, the first
BIG pirate ship, and the
Tehcnics Car & Jeep Yes those blue windows were very cool. I think the unique pieces were a major selling point to those LEGO sets. I would flip through the Sears catalog for hours fantasizing about having the different toys in there, especially the Monorail... speaking of fantasizing, I also couldn't help but notice the lingerie section of the catalog, I blame those Sears catalogs for turning me into a pervert at such a young age!
