Order in the line!

Papers, Please, a unique dystopian game of social drama, and political statements, challenging your alertness, attention to detail, and morals with the puzzling and stressful work of an immigration inspector, is available for pre-orders on GOG.com, for Windows and Mac, for only $9.99!

Comrade! As you assume your post at the Grestin Border Checkpoint the Ministry of Admission would like to remind you that your work is crucial to the safety of the People's Republic of Arstotzka. The enemies of the state are many and our borders should remain impenetrable. Stay alert! Terrorists, spies, and miscreants will take advantage of your every smallest mistake to enter our motherland and threaten the people. Be vigilant! Always check and double-check every detail. Never ignore any inconsistency. The safety of our glorious nation rest is your personal responsibility! Oh, by the way, comrade--you will be paid based on the number of people you control each day. And we're raising your rent.

Papers, Please simulates the work of a immigration inspector whose responsibility is to controll the passports and other papers of the people trying to cross the border of your country. Your job gets more complicated daily, as new regulations are passed by the Ministry of Admission and the illegal immigrants get more and more creative in the attempts of tricking you into letting them in. You will face the grim reality of a dystopian communist republic of the early 1980s as you try to support your family and not end up in front of a firing squad as a traitor. Challenging, morally ambiguous, and intense gameplay will blow your mind!

Pre-order Papers, Please for only $9.99 and feel the Ministry of Admission breathing down your neck, as soon as the game arrives (which is expected to happen on August 8).

Cobrastan is not a real country!

TurnipSlayerr: Cobrastan is real country! Who are you to say it is not?
Never seen a passport with a duck as the national animal or "pre-approved" written in crayon and I have certainly never heard of Bestburg as it's not on my map. Next!
Hm. Anyone here that has gotten the beta to run via wine? Supposedly it's possible, but I am running into brick walls. It starts up the program but only displays a tiny block of about 30*30 pixels and locks my mouse pointer into a similar area outside the actual application window.

Tried various wine versions.
Okay, so I played through the beta twice last night. Never thought doing a job and paying my bills would be so interesting. Bonus points for the reoccurring "annoying customer". I enjoyed the little moral issues: do you let a murderer or a human trafficker in because their papers are in order? I'll probably pick this up next weekend when I have a little extra spending cash.

There's a giveaway on the forums, you could try entering that.

You can detain the human trafficker :D

It worked perfectly fine for me.

Give me a moment and I will check mah settings...

EDIT:
Created a new wineprefix and ran it in that. No issues at all, runs fine.
$ wine --version
wine-1.5.30
(don't ask why it is so out of date :])

Have you tried running it in a virtual desktop?

Nah, this is a game I would happily pay for. This week was rent week. My mother-in-law, uncle, wife and son are sick and need medicine. I haven't been able to afford heat for 2 days.

I'm sorry to be that person, but it's your fault for not planning ahead. It's better to cut your heat off preemptively for a day and save some money (what kind of pussy can't handle being cold for day? A Kolechian?) than to be caught without money and lose your heat for a week at a time.

But I understand. The Steam pricing for it in my region equates to US$7,42 but I'm thinking about getting it here on GOG regardless of being more expensive.

Everything past it being rent week was just a poor excuse for a joke. Perhaps they would get it in Cobrastan. But what is not a joke is they raised my rent the last time I signed my lease 0_0

Does the trick. Thank you.
Just played the Beta. I've found one major problem with it. It ends too soon :(

Can't wait til its released next week
After Legend of Grimrock again this difficult decision:

Should I buy here on GOG? or should I buy directly from the Game Website, gaining a Steamkey and supporting the guy behind the game more directly?

decisions decisions.......

depends on whether you want to support GOG, the biggest DRM free distribution channel, or Steam.

Are you okay with that? We can have a look at getting it running properly in fullscreen if you would prefer to play it that way.

You seem to be confused. Neither of his options involved paying Steam.
