drmlessgames: Then it's not possible to buy this game anymore? That's amazingly lulz worthy.

Foxhack: Not really.

If you can score a used physical copy of the game, you can register the key on Steam and download it there. I got my key from a new copy I picked up at a local flea market for $4 or so YEARS before this whole mess even began.

Of course, getting a used copy of this game that hasn't had its key registered is a crapshoot...
I have a copy of Prey in my house but I´ve coludn´t play it due to system requirements. Maybe I´ll give this game a chance.

How did Bethesda get the rights to the IP when the first Prey was developed by Human Head and published by 3D Realms?

Human Head aren't owned by a publisher. They're developing the sequel and using Bethesda as a publisher.

Ah, it was the OP's comment that Bethesda was "still basically ID Software" that confused me. Fair enough in that case.

They bought the rights from the previous owner, radar group, which werent able to make the sequel.
New teaser trailer:

They had to go with this. These sorts of trailers / movies are the one thing that freaks me out the most. :|
I just watched some footage of the original Prey. Man, I don't know if I could handle something like that. The adults getting processed was bad enough, but the kids....oh god the kids. I've got plenty of nightmare fuel for tonight.

Well, the game isn't that frightening. There is this wicked old-and-a-bit-crappy-scifi-movie feel to it. And the gameplay is really worth a shot, there has not been anything quite like it since (maybe except portal, but that's not really a FPS).
I'm guessing, what with the decidedly more generic player character, there won't be any Native American inspired stuff in this game, like spirit walking, your bow and hawk. If so then it does seem a lot less interesting than the first game, even with the promise of an open world and multiple means to complete each objective.
Playing a human bounty hunter on an alien world sounds freaking awesome, especially if it somewhat non-linear. I hope this is great.
