1. If I get Civ 5: Gold edition do I have to play with all dlc and the expansion or can i install them separately for a "vanilla" experience?

2. My PC has a slow internet connection, however I managed to get my Shogun 2 up to date in a friend's house. If I buy Fall of the Shogun, will I have to redownload another massive update or will the current updated version cover it?

1. I don't remember if the extra content can be disabled, I can check later. I would play with the Gods and Kings expansion though, I think it improves the base game immensely.

2. No clue, sorry.

Edit: The DLC for Civ V can be disabled from the main menu in game.

1. As far as I know, there's no way to disable the DLC, but other than Gods and Kings, the DLC is just new civilizations so you can just just set up a game without them. And I agree with cdnred, Gods and Kings adds in a bunch of the good stuff they took out from Civ IV without changing the base game too much.

2. I'm pretty sure you'll have to update the game, but it shouldn't be a huge update, since Fall of the Samurai still uses most of the same content from Shogun 2. I bought Shogun 2 in a big bundle though, so I don't know for certain.

Edit: nevermind 1. cdnred clarified.

Well as for shogun 2 i only have fall of the samurai and it shows as 23,350 gb and im pretty sure thats fall and everything else preloaded if that helps, most likely a small download if they didn't already preload it to you.
