First you do find the disc (
and that's subject to being very iffy the last decade since they usually don't give you any discs), the installation would wipe your harddrive completely clean.
Second, usually the disc is set for a particular piece of hardware, assuming you have X CPU and Y Motherboard and Z monitor, and these drivers will automatically be installed.
Third if the configuration doesn't match what it expects, you will need to enter a valid key for Windows, or if it lets you go through it will give you a '
this system will be locked in 30 days unless registered' and a program that won't go away or shut up. A program will pop up if you activate it referring you to information to enter in after you've paid for your own CD Key. And Microsoft won't necessarily keep track of this key number, so if you call up again because it didn't save or you had to reinstall, you may have to pay again...
