Elmofongo: EDIT: Have I been downrepped I last checked it was 460 now its 458, come on guys.

kojocel: You are being donwrepped because:

- you don't ask for help in game forums,
- you demand immediate help (thus posting in general section),
- you complain too much
- one of your life goals is getting a high rep on GOG forums
- even when people are wasting their time you don't even bother to say "thank you" to a helpful person.
- etc.

Things are getting any clearer now?

/off-topic off
1.I was but people rarely reply in the dedicated forums
2. Well with a game like this for a newcomer and the general slowness the deicated forums, of course I would get impatient, and think about this in Fallout 1 I rarely asked for help, but Fallout 2 is getting on my nerves.
3. I am sorry for complaining and I promise I will calm down.
4.Its not the numbers, its the principle of the fact that people reacted to me negativly and I did not mean any harm, but than again I did complain.
5.Like 3 I will say thank you more often staring now.

Thank You for your advice.

Potzato: The fighter approach is tougher in F2 than in F1. In F1 it was the easy way .... in F2 it's just the sure way.
Then like many people said all over the web, the *not really a tutorial* is needlessly hard and makes a lot of builds hard to get through it.

keeveek: You mean kicking the shit out of ants and scorpios? You can finish it without fighting at all, only by running away or sneaking.
Yup, we even might add stealing or talking the shimz out of bob .... which is perfectly fine and okay for a fallout vet', but *many* people who started F2 without much knowledge of F1 or F2 were quite disgrunted (?) by the trial. The first reflex (whatever the character you made) is usually to fight the whole thing because you expect it to be the un-failable start.

Yes. But that is what Fallout 2 teaches beautifully: combat is not the only option. Actually it often isn't even the best option. It is more generally more healthy to avoid combat (duh). It is funny that something that everyone would instinctively know in real life, namely 'combat is dangerous', takes so much getting used to in a game. IRL, if I meet a scorpion as big as a cow or some ants the size of large dogs my first instinct wouldn't be "Hey, I'll bash them with my bare hands." Rather I would tend keep my distance - and my life.

Indeed. As much as I love the freedom in this place it's so annoying when people ask here because they don't have the patience to wait in the game specific sub forums. Granted, if it's a dead forum you don't have much of a choice but the "so I decide I rather have help from you guys than reading guides. " just reeks of "help me guys! I'm desperate!".

The thing that will always make me laugh are people saying 'Meeeeh ! Not being able to kill neutral people in <insert non fallout game name> really breaks the immersion !'

People are secretive psychopaths.

The relation between people and 'games in general' is really something I'm curious about. I always wondered why do I prefer spending time playing a Civ game on really hard difficulty where I have to fine tune my economy .... than doing my personnal REAL comptability.

Humans are weird people.

I think that people want to make a connection to something, regardless what it is. They do this with games through interaction, lacking the interaction to kill a NPC kills the immersion even if it sounds insane. Talking to a deity may be percieved as insane by some but at the same time for them it's about experiencing a connection, regardless of what it is or if it's real.

The game design is made so that it is exciting, after all economy as a subject usually sucks if you don't have any money or special skills that allows you to come ahead of others (which you're able to in the game after a while). I bet you rich, successful economists are having their time of their life with their work, as much as you're having with Civilization if not more. ;)

DaCostaBR: What are your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. and traits?
avatar
Elmofongo: ST 5, PE,7, CH 6, IN 7, AG 10, LK 8

Traits: Fast Shot and Gifted

Perk: Awareness
I would set IN to 9 and CH to 4 or even 2 since I don't like companions that much.
So I would go like this:
ST 5, PE 9, CH 2, IN 9, AG 10, LK 8
Actually this is proven to be the best solo build and at the end of the game you should have
ST 10, PE 10, CH 1, IN 10, AG 10, LK 10
if played right. + you will have both sets of damage reducing implants.
Also Gifted Trait is a must. Don't take skilled because perks as really important. I usually take either Jinxed or Bloody Mess.
Also in theory LK of 7 is also enough to get to LK 10, but depends on a random encounter which you might never get. Then you can get CH to 2 :).

Yeah but the con is with low CH I get lower speech and speech is everything in this game.

With a high IN you will get enough skill points to easily max speech. Charisma doesn't matter that much except for companions.

Yes of course. I usually Tag speech :)
Normally tag skills which have no skill books! Choose only one weapon type and stick with it. Easiest is Small guns which can be leveled up with only book. I rarely Tag it though. Late-game you can level up a second skill. Another option is going only unarmed :D.
Also forgot about EN in the special ... Should be around 4-5 points left if i calculate right.

Ok I think I have control of the situation, I got a really good gun, AK like Rifle with plenty of ammo (got it from the Ghost Farm quest), and some random junk I can use as trade money to buy stimpacks, my goal right now is to prepare myself enough to kill all the slavers in the den to free Vic so he can tell me where the G.E.C.K. is.

Already test it and all I need is more stimpacks and after I kill all the slavers I can loot their bodies.

StingingVelvet: You can get a lot more EXP in FO2 for non-combat stuff. I suggest doing a lot of that first to build up your character.
I have a question SPOILERS

My time to get the G.E.C.K. to my villiage is almost up and I am almost getting to Vault 13, but even if the village dies do I still need the G.E.C.K. for something?

Also does this game has time limit of how many years I have until game over like Fallout 1?

You will need a GECK to finish the game. You can get one in the final area if you forget to bring it. There is a time limit of 13 years.

Sad I really wanted to save the village, and I noticed days go by faster in this game, thanks anyway.
