Roberttitus: The sun doesn't rise for another 3-4 hours... if you are going to troll, then at least try to be remotely successful at it.
It was in response to Roman5 who said he saw red sky in the morning :D he didn't say how early.
I searched and found your answer. It sounds like light pollution.

What latitude are you on, roughly?
It could be an auroral display. If you're up in the north...
Could be lightning.

Checked your local astronomy websites?
Not sure, but I once saw an orange glowing ball floating silently through the sky. It disappeared behind a building and when I went around to look for it, it was gone.
Oh its -that- time of the eon again:

I live as far north in the lower 48 as is possible (almost) and it's not aurora. Besides, unless there has been pronounced solar activity (yes I monitor this and yes I am single, why do you ask!?) Aurora is not orange. Yahoo had an article about a meteor shower this week but that definitly doesn't sound like it.
Color wise it sounds JUST like a sunrise but the flashing doesn't make any sense.

Well, I'm no help! Thank You:)
Sheet lightning on youtube:

Does this look in any way familiar?
Are you sure it's not just hallucinations, plain and simple? You could say "I know how hallucinations look like!" or whatever, but you don't, even if they happen to be a common occurence with you. When my wife was overworked, she literally saw an elephant that wasn't there, clear as day. Not to mention me seeing objects shifting and flashing when I'm tired, or just colors changing.

Just ask someone else if he/she has seen it as well.

Its pretty damn weird to have hallucinations that you recognize as hallucinations. I can remember this happening to me twice when Ive been very very tired.

First time on maybe fifth grade we had organized some disco at the school and when finally got to my own room late in the night, I still saw my classmates walking around my room before I fell a sleep.

The second time was more weird, I hadnt slept fore some 48h in some army exercise camp and I was standing on guard by some small road in middle of forrest: At some point i noticed that the smaller trees started to look like people, but turned back to trees when I walked close enough. There were also some tank traps on the road and it looked to me like there was some giant snake or something slithering all around them.

...I know whole the time that none of that was real and that I just needed to get some sleep asap - but they DID look damn real :)
