Just played Leons Campaign, I think the game got alot of undeserved hate because its different to the usual Resi formula.

If you liked Resi 5, I think you would like this, you have more character control and more gameplay variation.

3 seperate campaigns initially, then Ada, plus collectibles, mercs and agent hunter, its supposed to have about 30 bours gameplay in total, but I've only played as Leon, it took about 7-8 hours, I will probably replay that section again as Leons partner Helena, so if you are into replayability and NG+ stuff, its good value.

More action than survival horror, I guess, but worth a punt I think.

I got it for €22 new for the 360 in Smyths, it was traded in in its cellophane wrapper and I knew the guy working there, so he gave me a discount, normally it would be €24 s/h.
Its a sad day that gamers are defending Resident Evil leaving Survival Horror while the genre itself is on life support with too few games.

My brother played it and he quit early because he said it sucked and he is one of those people that does not care if RE is Action or Survival Horror.
I heard it sucks dead monkey's anus.

There's a difference between "not survival horror" and "horrible game."

Not saying RE6 is good or bad. I haven't played it, I don't know. but for pete's sake, all anyone has been talking about is the fact that it's an action game, not a survival horror game. Yeah, welcome back to 2005, guys. The series should have died long ago, and it's completely abandoned everything that it used to be about. Let's just accept that and move on, and start judging the entires on their own merits.

EDIT: On a related note, have you tried Metro? It's not really a traditional survival horror game, but played on the hardest difficulty it does have some of the ammo scavanging that made the REmake so much fun. Maybe that will help tide you over until the inevitible rediscovery of the genre? Because yeah... I'm with you on that one.

My fanboy side says I don't want to play indie survival horrors because than I will miss Leon, Chris, Lickers, Hunters, Tyarnts, etc. how can you replace those classic characters its to hard to let go :(

But yes I played it and it was a mess.

EDIT: Of course my rational side is excited for I NFECTED

Yeah, I just couldnt get enough of the old resi tank controls and shitty camera angles, so, whatever :) (not directed at anyone, just what I remember from my PS1 days.)

Do you mean metro 2033? If so, yes I liked it alot. :)

Yeah I preordered the game and I do not regret it. Its miles ahead of the turd that is Resi 5.
Absolutely despised the demo, no interest in playing it further.

I knew they weren't trying the moment I came across a lifeless corpse, couldn't aim at nor shoot it, but when I came back through that room later it got up and attacked. We should be long past cheap, lazy scripting like this.

I'm far more interested in ZombiU, it looks like it has what RE has been missing for some time.

I... kinda liked it. I guess. I loved the ambience, the world, the punishingly realistic combat, and the survival gameplay (on the hardest setting). I hated the fact that it just defaulted to typical contemporary linear FPS design even when it didn't fit, and the absolutely tedious stealth. And the fact that I had to choose between abandoning the most interesting parts of the game mechanics, or avoiding the horrid stealth by turning down the difficulty.

But it's so fun to hate stuff for no reason.

By the way, if you want a survival horror RE game there's Revelations for you, which is pretty good.
re6 is trying to do what dead space has already done and it has done it a lot better
The fourth and fifth games were action games too and no one hated on them like they do this one. The reviews I have read and the giantbomb podcast laid out clear gameplay reasons why this one is terrible, namely bad mechanics, bad solo play due to coop focus and an incomprehensible story.

Since I didn't like 4 and 5 much I doubt I would like 6 any more. That said my main issue with 4 and 5 were that they played like shooters but controlled like shit, and I hear this one controls more normally like Dead Space. So I guess you never know. Still the coop shit would drive me insane, I expect Dead Space 3 to be ruined by it too.
A friend made me try the demo. Maybe it's because I don't really like playing shooters with a gamepad, but i've rarely played something that horrible and bizarrely nonsensical.

Ehh, Revelations isn't really "survival horror," in my opinion. It tries to be, but it's blatantly obvious that it's just trying for the surface level appeal and doesn't really embrace the meat of what was so much fun about the original games' design. It has some minor backtracking, but the gameplay is distinctly RE4-fare.

I enjoyed what I played of it, though. Well, I also enjoyed RE4.

Yeah apparently the story makes more sense if you play the characters in a certain order, The game defaults to Leon, but I believe you should play one of the others first, I forget whch though. The AI in Co-Op is fine, I havent played it online.

Dunno what is bad about the controls, I find them fluid for dodging , melee and firing, but I have only played Leon, so maybe the others are different.

I tried to play DS one, but never finished, but I forget why tbh.
