I enjoyed Betrayal at Krondor and always wanted to check out the sequel. Any chance GOG?
Ooooh, I'm seconding this. I had one hell of a time getting Betrayal at Krondor running. That bastard ate up so much of my precious conventional memory!
I had to make a boot menue item just for Betrayal at Krondor. Good times.
I'd definitely want to buy both Betrayal and its sequel.Make it happen, GOG!

Betrayal is now freeware! Go to http://www.alt-tab.net/games/betrayal-at-krondor/download/
Great game. I love fighting system, and puzzles... "Logical locks" :D
I got Return to Krondor years ago because I was such a fan of Betrayal at Krondor. It plays much differently than the first, is rather unbalanced, and feels like only 1/3rd of a proper game. It is a fun game, just be forwarned that it falls far short of Betrayal.
Man, I played Betrayal at Krondor a lot, but I do not remember ever finishing the game. It would be rather nice to give it a go once again, but boy I remember it as a rather long game.
With gog it seems the potential is nearly limitless.

Technically, so is Freespace 2, yet I still bought it. But whatever.
Wheeee. Off I go. I hope DOSbox works with this. Also, thanks.

I would certainly buy the games on this site if they where here even if they are freeware. I Loved Betrayal when it was released.
Despair Thy Eyes!!
That game (BaK) is one of the two major reasons I spend so much time in front of the computer nowadays... the other reason is Civilization 1 :P
Betrayal is not freeware - it was a limited time release by Sierra. They've cleared this up in the past, apparently there IS a difference. It's illegal to distribute now, though really - I doubt anyone cares given the unlimited nature of the offer. They can't prove when you downloaded it.
I think Krondor should be added, but we have to wait and see what happens to Sierra. I'm not even sure they have the rights to the IP anymore, what with Dynamix being involved and Raymond E Feist. Tricky situation.
As for Return to Krondor - christ. Don't hold your breath. I bought it too, as I'd never played it. It's not even close to the original in terms of gameplay or story quality. In fact all you do is search houses killing enemies. You level up like 3 times and you already have near-max stats (and you level up very quickly in the first chapter). It's just such a poor game.
Betrayal is a classic though. Everyone needs to play it once.
In Betrayal at Krondor you can level up very fast too. My Locklear is always (I mean everytime I play this game) a sword master at the end of Episode I.
A bit of offtopic: I am really annoyed by the fact I know Betrayal that well. I would give so much to have my brain cleaned up, so that i could not remember a thing connected with BaK. I could sit then, install the game and enjoy it once more.
And please, someone destroy this page http://www3.hi.is/~eybjorn/krondor/krondor.html.

Yes but in Betrayal stats don't control as much as this game. I have James with 5-6 hits doing massive damage, while a chapter previous he was getting beaten badly.
Also the magic is horrendous. You have every spell like a standard rpg, rather than the find and learn method of Betrayal. So as you pump every single point into you mages magic, you get like 10-15 spells a level. Thats too much.
Did I mention you are stuck in Krondor? Three chapters so far have taken place there, with one being in the now very confusing sewer system. The method of walking between screens is also very tedious, only adding to the frustration.
Seriously - if you love the original this game will only serve to make you very sad. I expected so much more. I mean I knew folks didn't like it, but wow. :( I at least expected a decent story. I can't even force myself to finish.
You know what ? You have seriously convinced me. I'll stay with the first game.
But i wouldnt mind staying stuck in Krondor. The smaller the game place is, the more detailed it could be, vide Gothic I.
Gothic 1 is highly detailed though. even despite it's aged look. Krondor is.....well its not. It doesn't look bad mind you, it's just very empty and soul-less. This doesn't even seem like the same city or world as betrayal.
Check a youtube video or two about it, though be wary. I was sold on one video because I thought it resembled an old Sierra point and click + turn based combat. Thats not true at all. While you do point and click to move around, you do very little beyond attacking enemies and talking to very one dimensional characters. The depth of conversations took a nosedive compared to the original. I mean ever character in the original was memorable, these guys aren't.
