DosFreak: Also you can use Virtual PC 2007 (and it's recommended to do so if using 9x as a guest) just fine on Windows 7.
In fact VPC is currently the best VM for running 9x guests, second place would be Vmware. VirtualBox would be dead last as far as running 9x guests.

tomba4: Could you elaborate? I was thinking about setting up 9x on VirtualBox since I already use it, but now I'm not sure...

I don't want to cloud your judgements just o ahead and try it to see if it works for you this will at least perhaps keep you away from the mess that is VPC. ;)
If it doesn't then fallback to VPC.
It's always best to try something instead of mindlessly following someone elses advice on the internets.

Nearly all Windows 3.1 games run perfectly well in DOSBox but you need to know which drivers to use. I got mine setup with Soundblaster 16 drivers (they fully work) and VESA 800x600 with 16 million colours.
If a game uses Quicktime, you may run into trouble if you try to run it in Windows XP or Vista/7 - Quicktime was a notorious pain in the ass in the Windows 3.1 days. Apple released several version which were incompatible with each other so for some games you had to remove your new version and install an older version. Never was a fan of Quicktime since then - it caused plenty of headaches for me :P
These old Entrex Software games do use the Windows 3.1 version of Quicktime, but I was able to install it from the disc and it miraculously worked! The sound and video still work ok after all these years. I didn't have a new version of Quicktime installed so I'm not sure if it would cause conflicts if 2 versions are installed.
Yes, my avatar is an image of my pet hamster in my hand after he stuffed his cheek pouches with seeds. :D Here is a video of him without the stuffed cheek pouches:

Haha very cute. I want to get a hamster again as well but I haven't gotten round to it yet. If I get one, he's going to be called "Boo" though.
