Hope to see it soon. That game was great.
I could support that.
Isn't this a Sid Meir game?

I remember playing some sort of golf tycoon demo years ago
Well, there's SimGolf and Sid Meier's SimGolf. You may be thinking of the latter, I don't know about boomtap.

I've got and played SMSG, but never the original.

wow, I didn't even know there was a 1996 version. Sid Meier's version is definitely the one I was thinking about with the customisable golfers, I spent ages playing that demo

Holy crap, I forgot about the first SimGolf. I remember at that time Maxis really started experimenting with drugs.... I mean genres.

Firaxis was the publisher, it was a Sid game I believe. Best part is you would design these courses, but then also get to play them. I had just as much fun playing the courses as the simulation game itself.
Original SimGolf (1996) at MobyGames.
Sid Meier's SimgGolf (2002) at MobyGames.

Screenshots to the right.
I didn't notice there was already a request up. I gave it a vote. Not sure that it will help much though.

The wishlist helps GOG judge how much interest there is in certain titles, and helps them decide what is worthwhile going after. (Of course, there may be other problems in the way, like rights' problems or compatibly woes.) If you're genuinely interested in a game, give it a vote even if you don't think it will do much good.

There's another wishlist entry for Sid Meier's simgolf with over 1000 votes, I think it got that many after some online campaign or some reviewer did a let's play on Youtube
