hi GoG, hope you're considering making smartphone apps, that allows us to access our account and buy games too.
safari on iphone doesn't work very well...

I'd love to see Android versions of games, already configured for DosBox Turbo.

I think he just means an app as an interface for the service, not that the games should work on Android.

I too would like a better interface for the site on my smartphone, but a dedicated app should not be necessary. For one thing, they'd have to maintain the app on both Android, iOS and possibly Windows Phone (or whatever it's called these days), which would be a lot of work.

But an app isn't necessary either. They could just make a mobile version of the site. That'd work on all smartphones. Well, maybe not iPhones, but there's no helping some people ;-)

That would be an unnecessary strain on GOG's resources, at least for now. I think it's better if they continue to focus on windows and secondly mac and maybe linux in the future.

As for the site I would love an optimized mobile version.

Unnecessary for whom? It always strikes me as silly when a person makes a wish and someone else argues against it on behalf of the company.

GOG? I said GOG's resources. This site was primarly targeted for windows gamers at first, specifically old games. You're a 2008 member, you should know this better than me. I think they have mentioned numerous times too that the reason they won't send extras or something similar when it comes to dos games here for linux is because they can't hold a high standard for official support because of the amount of different linux distributions there are and probably a few more other reasons. Android might be easier, I give you that, but at the same time for a smaller audience and not to mention I don't believe dosbox turbo is the official dosbox emulator on android (If I recall GOG works closely with the official dosbox team). Besides, I'm sure there are forums out there that might be able to help with specific game configurations like dosbox forum or android forums with games in particular.

I guess my reason to argue against was unnecessary, I own a Nexus 7 myself and I would really appreciate android optimized configurations so dos games here would work just by starting them.

I wouldn't mind GOG offering Android versions of those indie games where e.g. Humble Indie Bundles offer them too. Spacechem, Anomaly Warzone Earth etc. They'd still sit well into GOGs prime directives, like "Uphold the DRM-free law". I'm unsure how much extra hassle giving out the Android versions does it cause to Humble Indie Bundle.

But for making Android "ports" of PC-only (DOS) games... maybe not, at least for now.

Seconded. No need for a mobile GOG app, as long as these pages would work better with mobile devices, a separate mobile version of them if needed. At least for me e.g. the floating menus cause a bit of problem with touchscreen devices, also the pages are maybe a bit too wide for smaller screens etc.
