Most of the people here know how great the GOG community is. It's better than most forums, filled with a lot of kind hearted and giving people. I wanted to share a few experiences I've had this month to show my appreciation.
In my personal life, my wife is pregnant and will stop working for 4 months, starting in a couple weeks. I also have an 8 year old stepson (who absolutely loves racing games). This leads me to have a very tight budget - as many of you have. Unfortunately, due to how things lined up, I was not able to have any money for the winter/Christmas sales that all the big distributers have.
I have been blessed beyond belief by this community! I've had numerous people gift me free games when I've stated "I would like to try that game sometime!" as a typical feedback comment. I was not asking for them- people just gave them to me out of the kindness of their heart, without asking for anything in return. It was a blessing, and I was thankful to be able to return the generosity in some cases by giving them a game I had a duplicate steam key lying around unused.
Over the course of my time here, I've one a few contests and giveaways. I even won a recent one that gave me $25 worth of GOG games. That was my biggest highlight until tonight...
Tonight I recieved a message from someone who was running a giveaway. I had entered a contest that offered several games, but just entered to win a racing game to give to my 8 year old stepson. I didn't win, but recieved a message saying that the person who won it had entered to win the game for my son.
Many of you may not have kids, but those of you who do will understand how amazing it is that someone would do something kind for your child... It's more of a blessing than receiving it yourself. They selflessly gave to my son- who they've never met, never talked to, etc... They just simply wanted to be a blessing to him. It left me speechless, turning a very very bad night, into a blessing.
So, to all of you who've given gifts, contribute to this community, or have been one of the people I referenced above, I want to say thank you! Thank you for being such a blessing! I'm glad to be a part of this community, and hope to be able to give more back in the future! Thank you!
