to fellow polish GOGers or anyone who read the books, are they worth my money since I'm in love with The Witcher 2 and plan to buy the first one and of course is mad with hype on W3?
I hadn't noticed they had already released the second one. I bought the first and read a couple of chapters but college got in the way and, though I've read other things since, I never returned to that book. Since the second one's out I guess I should pick up the pace.

Up until I read it was okay, not great or anything, but then again I've never been a fan of short stories (which compose the first two books) and always expected the full length novels should be better and bigger in scope, more like the stories seen in the games.

In any case, you can decide for yourself, the publisher has the first chapter free on their website: http://www.wmfmartinsfontes.com.br/emk1/ultimodesejo/Ultimodesejo_cap1.pdf

I found the books very good back story and setting up the environment of setting.

Ive read better fantasy
But if you love the games, the books will hold your interest
I enjoyed The Last Wish. Not the best book ever written, but the story was nice, and it was a nice easy read one bitterly rainy weekend.
I really should look at getting the other books. Given how often it rains over here in England it would only be a matter of time until I reached them.
I´ll take a look, thanks for the tip!

Come to Ireland you'll be able to finish whole genres, never mind series :P

Sapkowski is one of the best Polish fantasy author, if not the best. The thing is, I don't think it would be easy to translate his style. It's very reach and he is doing a great job with a written word, contrary to most fantasy writers (not only Polish writers).

Anyway, I think that is you like TW game, you should read the origins of Geralt.
