Huinehtar: I was more referring to some new games available in 'boxes' (DVD cases precisely). But there are two cases here:
- 'AAA' games or very well easy to find in retail distribution
- 'AA' or indies or very hard to find in retail (only directly from the developer or publisher)

For most of them, manuals have been reduced to PDFs included to the disc (CD, DVD, Blu ray), and the reason summoned was that was too expensive to produce printed manual especially if the majority doesn't read them. And I can understand, even those AAA games which could afford printed manuals, I think it is sad.
The reason they figure none read the manuals is likely because of questions that are answered therein, and instead of continuing to reply "RTFM" as decent human beings would (teaching a man to fish and all that), they started moving manual content into the game - as unskippable tutorials.

Thus, the only thing left is the but that says "don't try to eat the disc you retard, put it in the drive and the installer should autolaunch, you'll be thoroughly guided from that point until you've finished the game, you won't, however, receive instructions on how to uninstall the game, so it'll continue taking up a couple dozen gigabytes until you buy a new machine because you installed so many games on the current one that it got low on disk space and you have no sodding idea whatsoever where it went, no wait, you have no sodding idea what disk space even is", and even that is gone now with one-click download-installs.

skipper8472: Talking of digital. I miss the manual and box smell. :(
Geeze, I hear that. I loved the big boxes games used to come in and the big manuals..cloth maps and what not were always a nice touch too.

JudasIscariot: We do our best to ensure every classic game comes with a manual but sometimes it's not possible for us to give one when we release the game. Rest assured that we are always on the lookout to add or improve the manuals on opur site for all of our games whenever possible :)

As to why they are a part of the bonus content? Simple: it saves you guys time from having to ask whether a manual is present for a given game :)
Are there games without manuals on GOG? And if so, has there ever been a case where the GOG Team made one for users?

Unfortunately, yes, there are some games without their respective manuals due to either legal issues or lack of an available physical copy.

I don't recall us ever making one.

pimpmonkey2382: Sometimes the manuals aren't in the installers so at least you can get them on the extras section.
The Covert Action manual is one of those cases but that's because the size of it is three times larger than the original game. I do try to keep the manuals as small as possible but with a 90+ page manual it's difficult to do so without losing some quality.

Grargar: Any progress with Theme Park?
Nothing to report as of yet but rest assured we'll do our best to get the manual, if possible from a legal and physical standpoint :)

Theme Park is a very notable example.
