There are many decisions to make as you get ready for the holidays, but one decision that we’re making easy for you is, “Should I buy anything from GOG.com’s Black Friday sale?” (The answer is “yes”, by the way. ;) Not only are we launching the sale early--in case you spend Friday in a turkey-induced coma--but we’re also giving you the power to pick your own promo!

mg1979: Sorry, you don't have, spare yourself the superlatives, please. I actually reconfigured GOG (DOS) games myself to choose settings that were optimal for me, and not that I'm really a tech guy. And by the way, DOSBox runs on Win/Mac/Linux, and games will run on all systems in the same way, with the same settings. Settings are much more game-related than system-related.
Actually they are related to both. You are still quite wrong believing that when anyone finds certain DOSBox settings that work great on his machine, they are guaranteed to work on other PC configurations too. You can see that simply by visiting the game sub forums for many of the games where people provide DOSBox settings they feel are the best for certain (GOG) game, and some others saying those settings don't work for them.

Maybe I should also link to that GOG discussion where someone felt his true and tested DOSBox settings that worked so great for him in Win7, didn't work that well,or at all, in Win8. So unlike you suggest, there is some variance.

No, you suggested I am talking about mainly DOS-games, while I wasn't. I presume that's why you replied with a "So you think DOSBox is hard to configure, huh?".

Nevertheless, even for DOS games there is much more Q&A and maintenance involved from GOG than for newer games, including indie. It is not only about "selling them".

This is my first purchase on the site, and I am very happy to see that I've quite easily managed to choose 5 out of 20. </i></span>, <span class="bold"><i>[url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/machinarium_collectors_edition]Machinarium and </i></span> were the obvious choice for me so I just browsed for the remaining two - finally choosing <span class="bold"><i>[url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/torchlight]Torchlight and Trine respectively.

I have never played either one of these, but given the reviews and the trailer feature it really made it as simple as possible to make the best pick. I hope that I won't be proven wrong after playing the games, though - I certainly expect not.

Thanks, MichiGen! :) Well, to be honest I've made my choice primarily based on the visuals of the games and went from there. I know I may be missing some great games with more pixelated graphics, but I guess I'm just spoiled that way... So, I think these five have it all.

To each his own. :)

Those three were no-brainers for me as well. The other two were To The Moon and GeneForge.

If someone has a hard time to fill that fifth slot I would just say that Torchlight has a really good soundtrack. I don't like the visual style at all and I find the gameplay of Diablo-clones to be boring nowadays but I often use the soundtrack in playlists for certain fantasy strategy and fantasy RPG games. It was made by the same guy that made the music for Diablo and Diablo II.

I also think visuals is very important in games but i don't care much about how many pixels there are at the screen at once. I prefer a low-resolution game with good graphics to a high-resolution game with bad graphics. So far my first choices are Machinarium (really good visuals) and Geneforge (Bad and really bad visuals, but interesting gameplay )

Putting aside the fact that most if not all of these games have been sold in the bundles already, the selection is excellent and the price is almost a steal. To The Moon is such a brilliant game that my heart wouldn't let me pay such a low price for it. Then there's Botanicula and Machinarium which are excellent games and would be instant buys if I didn't own them already (one from GOG, one from the latest humble bundle).

My current picks are Resonance, Gemini Rue and the Blackwell Bundle, which I've heard only good stuff about and look fantastic. I need to pick two more, but it's kind of hard since I'm not really a fan of the games I don't own, but still curious enough to try almost any of them. I think Torchlight will be my fourth choice and the last one's between Darwinia, Unmechanical, Anomaly and Defcon.

I see some people are disappointed with this selection because they already own most of them and I can only say there's always people like me, who came late to the indie bundles party and own almost nothing on this list. Since Steam is also a big No No for me (I will never trust any company with total control over the games I've paid for), this promo here is exactly what I needed to expand my collection of indies.

Also, If I ever had to choose between GOG and any other digital game shop, I wouldn't think one second about it. GOG absolutely needs to succeed and rise above it's competitors. The DRM farce has gone far enough already and it's time we gamers reclaimed our respect. Supporting GOG is the best way to do that right now.

I agree if only they sold the mac version of Torchlight and Trine. As it is I am forced to buy those on Steam instead. And I hate Steam.

Otherwise it would be

Mechinarium
Multiwinia
Warzone earth
Trine

But of what is left the only other one I really knew of enough to want was Mechinarium so now I must decide if I want to pick a bundle without Torchlight and Trine and what I would want to replace them with. Or if I want Mechinarium that badly to get the bundle only on its weight. It is also half off on steam and if I buy Torchlight there anyway. I like the idea of GOG but their selection of OSX friendly games is terrible.

I think its pretty decent being so new. fallout, descent, wing comander, redneck rampage, mdk2 are just the games I've played or heard overwhelming good about and plan to from that list.

If anyone would like 2 of the games below out of this promo, I'd be willing to trade for Still Life 2 from the Anuman Collection weekend sale (mixed reviews, but I might as well finish the series).

EDIT: I got Still Life 2 from Steam because it was cheaper (if it was likely good, an RPG or something I might play more than once I would have paid the extra $1.50 for the GOG version).
Given a reasonable reputation, I'd trade 2 or 3 games from below for an equivalent value game from a future sale.
If there are no takers maybe I'll add Anomaly Warzone Earth and get an extra copy of Torchlight, or something... or just get 1 'pick 5'.

I kinda wish we also had the choice to buy just 1 or 2 of the selected games for like $4 or something like that. There's an option to buy 2 games, but it still ends up being $10...

I wonder if I can, after I buy my pack as a gift, split few games into my inventory and send the rest over to my friend. Anybody knows?

You'll get a single code for all 5 games, and all those you don't already have will be automatically redeemed. So you can only gift games you already have.
