15,504 ways to play!

Decisions, decisions, decisions. Once the holiday season gets closer, you have to decide what gifts to buy, what wrapping to use, which phone numbers to accidentally delete. There are many decisions to make as you get ready for the holidays, but one decision that we’re making easy for you is, “Should I buy anything from GOG.com’s Black Friday sale?” (The answer is “yes”, by the way. ;) Not only are we launching the sale early--in case you spend Friday in a turkey-induced coma--but we’re also giving you the power to pick your own promo!

In our Pick 5 & Pay $10 sale you pick 5 out of twenty fantastic indie games and pay $10 for them regardless of the game’s regular full price. That's $2 per game, for such titles like Torchlight, Resonance, Alan Wake's American Nightmare, Botanicula, Geneforge 1-5, Uplink, To the Moon, and many others. Seven of these games are both PC and Mac compatible, so everyone can enjoy!

The games are fantastic--and there are so many of them! That's why we started this sale early: to give you time to pick your dream-set of 5 games out of 15,504 possible combinations. You could look at this as another decision you have to make this year, but unlike trying to figure out who you should sit next to your slightly crazy uncle at Thanksgiving dinner, this one’s fun!

Black Friday marks the start of the “shopping season” for the holidays, so don’t forget to buy the gift of GOG for a gamer you love--or even just kind of like. You can’t spread much more holiday joy than this for just $10.
So this was my final choice:

Resonance
Botanicula
To The Moon
Blackwell Bundle
Geneforce 1-5

A heavy emphasis on story telling. It was a shame to have to remove Machinarium from that list, but I'll certainly buy it later.
Just picked:

Anomaly Warzone Earth
Machinarium: Collector's Edition
Torchlight
Botanicula
Alan Wake's American Nightmare

Will be occupied for a long time now. Great package to myself ^_^
I couldn't have missed this too:

Trine
Machinarium
Unmechanical
The Ball
Symphony
one slot left, hung up on resonance vs blackwell.

trying for a variety and already scrapped mechanium because i have botanica in there.

so far thinking

botanica
darwinia
to the moon
resonance
geneforge

but also looking at trine and torchlight. i'd spend more if it was able to be broken up into $2 each or at least when adding more on top of the 5. Like 7 for 14

maybe

torchlight
darwinia
symphony
botanica
geneforge

or

torchlight
darwinia
symphony
botanica
to the moon

>1hr left. deciding.
I ended up grabbing:

Resonance
Botanicula
To the Moon
Uplink
Symphony

and then a couple of days later came back and got

Alan Wake's American Nightmare
Gemini Rue
Torchlight
Spacechem
Unmechanical

Now I have too many games sitting there waiting to be played :(
Bought
Blackwell Bundle
Resonance
Gemini Rue
SpaceChem
Botanicula

Was going to get To the Moon, but I'd like the soundtrack as well so Steam it is.
Is promo still ongoing or is it over?
It ended just over an hour ago.

Dammit! Just my luck.
You snooze, you loose

Oh well, next big promo is in a couple of weeks for christmas, keep your eyes peeled for that
Just curious. I saw the "pick your dream-set of 5 games out of 15,504 possible combinations" in OP and was wondering how this was calculated?

I"m thinking there were at least 10 games to choose from, so I was thinking 10*9*8*7*6 = at least 30240 combinations. Am I thinking about it wrong?

I wondered that, too. I'm thinking there were 20 games, which puts the number of combinations considerably higher.

There were 20.
There were 20 games total to pick from. Since the order of the games does not matter, the number of combinations of x items from a set of N is

N! / [ (N-x)! x! ] = 20! / [ 15! * 5! ] = 20*19*18*17*16 / 5*4*3*2 = 15,504

This ignores the possibility of checking out before picking all 5 games.

We were also curious about that and worked it out. You have to consider the problem as a combination one, where order does not matter. Here are two of the posts:

In short there are 15504 combinations if you choose 5 games, but since GOG allowed people to just pick two and check out, the total possible number of combinations was actually 21679.

GOG lied!
